Is this true? Holly looking to rekindle UConn series

Not true. That would mean Holly felt Pat was not justified in cancelling the series.

Or she felt the problem was between Geno and Pat. Not Geno and her.

I think Dana White says it best, "If I don't like you, I'll tell you to your face. But, it doesn't mean we can't do business."

Uconn VS TN is good for the business of women's ball. That's all.

Carl Adamac is a respected sports reporter in CT. This is an excerpt from his SNYU blog -

No renewal of UConn-Tennessee in sight
July 17th, 2013 1:45 am
By Carl Adamec

Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt and the University of Tennessee unilaterally ended the popular series with the University of Connecticut womenÂ’s basketball team six years ago.

Whether it ever returns may be Geno AuriemmaÂ’s and the HuskiesÂ’ call.

"Tennessee coach Holly Warlick, who replaced Summitt a year ago, told the Associated Press Tuesday she approached Auriemma during last month’s Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame induction weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., about renewing the rivalry that was halted in 2007. A source confirmed the conversation took place. But the source added that for UConn to possibly to agree to play, Tennessee has “explaining” to do from Summitt’s decision of six years ago and how its actions put Auriemma, some of his players, and the way he runs his program in a very negative light."

If Adamec is correct, I don't see the series being renewed any time soon.

i would like to see them renew the game, but if Geno doesn't want it to happen,it isn't going to and from the sound of it,he doesn't,of course there will be no rush about it till next year too, he probably isn't thinking about it to much yet,it might take a year or two,but hopefully it will happen

It appears that the ball is in Pat's court. Sounds like Geno wants Pat to explain what caused her to cancel the series. Maybe he'd accept an explanation from Holly.

Extensive thread on the Boneyard about this. Without some admission from UT, I doubt if the series will ever resume.

Since Geno has already agreed that Pat contacted him and told him her reasons for refusing to renew the contract, this sounds more like posturing than anything else.

I don't know about the administrative offices, but many of the respective fan bases (at least those that spend time posting on their respective fan message boards) seem too entrenched in their own opinions to get beyond the current reality.

And your last sentence seems to suggest that what the UConn horde wants is an apology. My own very personal opinion is that that 'ain't gonna happen', so I would guess the series won't resume. What everyone north of the Mason-Dixon line conveniently wants to forget/ignore is that neither Pat nor Tennessee made a public announcement beyond "we are not renewing the series contract" until Geno/UConn and the tv hierarchy attempted to use public pressure to force the continuation of the series and/or a the very public disclosure that they now continue to whine about. Perhaps it is time for some to recognize their own responsibility and get over it.

As long as Weno is HC at Uconn UT will not play them. Too much cheating with the NCAA turning its head and letting UCONN
