Sure would love this guy to play here for 4 years, but judging by his play he may very well be offered a NBA contract after this season. Hope Scotty Hopson doesn't try to go pro after this season I think he need more playing time before he tries the NBA.

He needs another year. He needs the competition before making the move to NBA.

I think for the player's benefit, they should be required to do 3 years just like in football. It would at least make the leagues more competitive. :)

question. why do football players have to wait until their junior year to enter the draft, but basketball players can after 1 year?

Executive director of the NBA players' union is saying that there is a 99% chance of a lockout next year. With that looming, it might discourage guys that would otherwise be one and done to reconsider and stay.

i just figured the NCAA would make players stay in school longer than 1 year

NCAA has nothing to do with it. It's not like they can force players to stay in college.

It all comes down to the NBA and NFL players unions and what they agreed to with their respective leagues.

I thought i seen somewhere there might be a NBA lock out. I think NFL and NBA are both going through this. Not 100% sure though.

I remember his father stating during recruiting that he wanted Tobias to be at Tennessee for 2 years, at least. I could even see him staying through his junior year to finish his degree. He's a true student-athlete.

He definately isn't ready for the NBA and would be stupid to enter the draft. There are only so many Lebron's, John Wall's of the world.

You can go after one year because players have shown (even straight out of HS) that they can compete...

Not many players could come out of HS, or 1 year in college, and go to the NFL and succeed. Many would get hurt immediately.

It's smart on both League's how they have it.

i really hope i am wrong, but my gut feeling is i think he splits after this year. he should do nothing but get better as the season goes along. the guy is a gym ratt. always working on his game to get better. thats the downside of getting top recruits. but you have to go after them.

He needs to continue to develop his outside game for next year.

During his recruiting, it was said that he will not be a one and done. I believe it was his father who stated this. I see two years at UT with a possibility of him wanting to play for a third, but that's a ways out and who knows what recruits we will be bringing in then.

Kids should be able to go straight to the NBA out of high school

No one makes Justin Bieber go to college before making money. If they have the talent, let them skip college.
