I still think that the Fulmer will pull out some great recruits despite our off season as I call it....I say we will be better this coming season Im hoping :clapping:

I just wish we could get more out of what we've already got, then anything else would just be gravy.

You know we have a great chance to get that QB from Texas (Nick Stevens, I think his name is) since Ole Miss didn"t get the Offensive Coordinator from Fresno St. He went to North Carolina. This kid is a late bloomer about 6-4 and stong arm and not slow footed like all the Clausens. Cutcliffe has offerred him a scholarship. He had previously committed to the Rebs. Their fans will hate Cut as much as they still hate Tommy tuberville if we snatch their QB prospect.

Look, Fulmer / UT ALWAYS gets good recruits. THE question is what we do with them after capture. NOT much in recent years!

UGA is doing very good in the recruiting scene and Richt seems to own UT. UF is doing a banner job & UM appears to be adjusting his offense to personnel better than anticipated. Of course, there's SOS that owns Fulmer regardless of what talent he has. If Fulmer does not get real in 06 it could be a long year!

I don't care how you recruit if the Head Coach & his Staff are clueless you are in trouble.

Well I agree but looks like we are stuck with Fulmer for the next year or two but let's keep the arsenal stocked with talent so the NEXT coach can hit the ground running as Jim Tressel did when he replaced John Stupor at Ohio State.

This is where I believe coach Cut will be invaluable. His forte is developing talent. If CPF will give him a free hand and I'm sure he will, he'll make corrections in what we have returning, and welcome the recruits to a structured disciplined program. Thats his past performance as I recall.

I am a hugh Cutcliffe fan, Class guy. I am cautiously optimistic but I guess the question can he do it without a Manning at QB. In 1998 we struggled some offensively with Tee at QB but played well enough to win the whole tamale.

We will get some good players but nothing close to last year and more importantly nothing close to UF or UGA.

we have only got 12 commits so far. we have 12-15 left to get. we will be fine. out of the top 100 we are still in the running for like 25 guys.

recruiting is not that important though. very overrated, to say the least.

WE HAVE TO EXECUTE. CLAP CLAP CLAP.

They probably went to go get some pepto-bismol after they saw that Coker at Miami fired 4 assistant coaches after going 9-3 and getting blown out in a bowl game. Probably upset their stomachs pretty bad. Obviously after going 9-3 and getting blown out in a bowl Miami should be giving Coker a huge raise and a contract extension.

In answer to the posted question, I think the answer is "no." Folks on here are saying CPF is a closer in recruiting, coming on big down the stretch. With the staff changes, the rampant criticism at every level of the program, etc., I am coming around to the point of view of many on here to the effect that a broad, sweeping change in the staff is the only way now to right the ship.

fulmer is a good recruiter, nice guy, and loyal to a fault. However the program had to reach bottom i.e. losing record, no bowl, before he was ready to make any changes. In addition, the offensive scheme has been getting stale and is no longer a disciplined unit.

If 5-6 wasnt bad enough, the program's image under Fulmer isnt very clean or respected in terms of off the field programs. Its one thing to go 5-6 with a clean program. It another to go 5-6 and have the numerous off the field programs that UT has. You just dont tolerate that from a 5-6 team.

The wish to acquire more is admittedly a very natural and common thing; and when men succeed in this they are always praised rather than condemned. But when they lack the ability to do so and yet want to acquire more at all costs, they deserve condemnation for their mistakes.

Some would compare that action favorably to waiting to go 5-6 before cleaning house ...

In plain English. I don't believe Fulmer & his Staff with their 30-40 year old offensive scheme will advance UT Football to Championship caliber.

Be that NC, SEC, SECE maybe even the State of Tennessee.

They should have thought about that before they used Cut to learn Eli then tossed him after he graduated. :focus:
