I'd say that the '05 squad exhibited a significant amount of individualism judging by the off-field problems and the fashion complaints that others have raised. It did not do them much good, did it? All this individual expression garbage detracts from the team concept. There is no "I" in team. I learned that when I was playing pre-K soccer. I think there are some Vols who need to be introduced to the concept.
Yeah. USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State, etc. I've noticed that these programs have no individuals. Actually, these teams are all white, with crew cuts, and work on the farm in the afternoon. Having played on state championship teams in two different sports, I'll take my athletic experience over "pre-K soccer." Actually, referencing that you learned anything from soccer makes me concerned for your very existence.

Yeah, I was also a Varsity midfielder on my college lacrosse team and starting forward on my HS basketball team. Settle down.

Lacrosse, where did you go to school? Not a whole lot of schools in the south, outside of the Virginia schools, play. I always watch the NCAA finals on Memorial Day. The games are usually close and exciting.

That sounds a great deal like the rules for the "team" Germany fielded in the late '30s and early '40s.

Didn't know that Germany had a national position on TD celebrations.

I think this is a little over the top. We have rules and standards dealing with dress codes and personal grooming throughout our society. Some people spend thousands of dollars to send their kids to schools with uneeforms (to steal a word from Earnest T Bass). Though these suggestions may not root out the cause of the problem they would certainly deal with some of the symptoms. Yes they do sound a little prudish, but they are certainly not Nazi.

I would agree. I was using an extreme analogy to point out how asinine I find telling a group of college students how to dress.

I played at Mercer University in Macon, GA from 1993 - 1995. Sadly, the school quit playing fielding a team a few years after I graduated. Here is a link to the South East Lacrosse Conference.

You will see that there are many southern teams that play at the "B" level as did mine. Basically, there are no scholarships for lacrosse at these schools. We would occasionally get a raod trip up north to play a St. John's or Princeton but it was like Belmont playing Duke in basketball. You can check out the sanctioning body (USLIA) and get an idea for some other regional teams that play at the same level.
