"So if Israel is going to do anything against Bushehr it has to move in the next eight days."
Absent an Israeli strike, Bolton said, "Iran will achieve something that no other opponent of Israel, no other enemy of the United States in the Middle East really has and that is a functioning nuclear reactor."
But when asked whether he expected Israel to actually launch strikes against Iran within the next eight days, Bolton was skeptical.
"I don't think so, I'm afraid that they've lost this opportunity," he said.
The controversial former envoy to the United Nations criticized Russia's role in the development of the plant, saying "the Russians are, as they often do, playing both sides against the middle."
"The idea of being able to stick a thumb in America's eye always figures prominently in Moscow," he added.
Iran dismissed the possibilities of such an attack from its archfoes.

"According to international law, installations which have real fuel cannot be attacked because of the humanitarian consequences," he told reporters at a news conference in Tehran.
Iranian officials say Iran has stepped up defensive measures at the [COLOR=#366388 !important][COLOR=#366388 !important]Bushehr [COLOR=#366388 !important]plant[/COLOR][/COLOR][/COLOR] to protect it from any attacks.

The irony for Israel is that they're really set up for failure on this one. They have to act to stop the threat. No one else will act for them. But they stand alone on this issue and know that retaliation will come. Many within the Muslim nations there are hoping Israel does act because it will "confirm" their "beliefs" in the eyes of the world and then give them an excuse to react knowing the US is not in their corner like previously. They are painted as the lone wolf here and if they act they fall into the trap of being the radical nation needing to be put down.

As a pro-Israel supporter they have every right to defend themselves from radical Islamists such as those in Tehran. If Iran gets nuclear weapons the radicals in charge will have no problem using them against Israeli or American interests. Nations like North Korea do not concern because they care about staying in power, nations like Iran do because they don't care if they are destroyed all they want is the death of Israel and the Western world.

This is a very bad situation.

It is not made any better by Bolton the Idiot weighing in publicly like this and ratcheting up tensions. I imagine the Israelis have a pretty good handle on when they reach a point of having to do something and don't need the advice of this moronic glory hog.

I hope Israel is prepared to fight this by themselves. As long as we have Barry they don't have us as an ally.

Iran is about to go Nuclear...... Israel doesn't care what Bolton thinks.

I don't hold allegiances to any other country than America. Contrary to the thinking of most people, Israel is not America "2."

Israeli oppression? After the Israeli pull out of the Gaza Strip they handed control over to the Palestinian Authority. They no longer have any responsibility in providing aid to the so called Palestinians. If your referring to the Gaza blockade than the PA is, itself at fault, for not rooting out terrorism within its ranks (See Hamas/Islamic Jihad).

If the PA and the Palestinian people would actually stand up and throw Islamic Jihad and Hamas out there door then there could be lasting, constructive peace in the region. However long they continue allow Hamas/Islamic Jihad safe haven within the Gaza Strip there will always be tension between the people. The only way for true peace is to disarm Hamas, Hezbollah, and other radical Islamist groups operating safe havens such as Lebaon, the Gaza Strip, etc.

Also is technically three days now, the Bushehr plant goes operational this Friday. I also don't understand why the Russians are backing the regime in Tehran. Don't they know if they achieve nuclear weapons its not good for them either? You would think with their conflicts in Chechnya, Dagestan, and other portions of the Russian Federation that they would be more open minded about siding with the US. Don't you think Iran would be more than open supplying groups like the Arab Mujahideen in Chechnya since the Russians are attacking their Mujahideen brothers in Caucasus?
