Latrell Bankstonhas entered the transfer portal, a source tells CycloneAlert. The junior transferred to Iowa State from Hutchinson Community College prior to the 2020 season. Bankston was listed on the participation report for every Iowa State game this season. And although he didn’t start any games this season, Bankston still made an impact. The junior had two timely sacks in Iowa State’s win over Texas, which helped make him the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. In total, Bankston notched 16 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in his first season with Iowa State.
Bankston came to Iowa State as the No. 3-ranked JUCO defensive tackle and the No. 14-ranked JUCO prospect overall, according to the 247Sports staff. Bankston chose Iowa State over offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Boise State, Oregon State and Maryland, among others. In total, Bankston amassed 22 offers as a JUCO prospect.
