Attended UT during the height of the Ray Mears Era. Entertaining, competitive, zany, passionate basketball. Watch a game, walk across the parking lot, smoke a doobie, hit the sack. Sleep through morning class.
Coach Mears, bi-polar? Manic depressive? The Vol Network grew and grew. The Vols outgrew the Armory-Fieldhouse, moving to Stokely Center in Mears' fifth season. Game nights in Knoxville became "must-see" events.
He brought magic to Vol hoops, with players on unicycles, with warm-ups to the strains of "Sweet Georgia Brown," and the band marching around the court. Mears in his orange coat. :dance2:
The drought lasted forever it seemed. Then along came Bruce Pearl. :ermm:
I couldn't have been more excited.:clapping:We'll play BBall again, turn up the ORANGE; GO VOLS!!! :loco:
It's all over.
Like terminal cancer, can't wait for this to end. :cray:
Bruce Pearl, you broke my heart and at my age, I ain't got much heart left to break.
