This Sucks!! I hate losing to FL. I don't know what it is. I just can't stand it. But it's a long year guys. We have done this before. I don't think FL will go though their season with one or even two loses. They still have Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Georgia left.

I don't see them going to Aurburn and winning. I also think they will lose anther SEC game. Maybe I am wrong. But we have a shot.

Yea sure I would have liked to give UF a good whole Tennessee ass kicking last night. But we played pretty tough. We made some mistakes and had some bad breaks. That's football.

But we have come along way since 05. Ainge is a different QB. We just have to give him time to throw. And to do that we have to be able to run the football. I think the coaching staff has done an outstanding job. We just need to execute and get people blocked. I think Cutcliffe called a good game. We just couldn't run the ball.

Whatever people think football basiclly comes down to one on one matchups. Wether its the linemen up front , the widerecievers and corners, the backs and linebackers. For you to be sucessfull you have to beat the guy in front of you more than he beats you. Florida beat us more than we beat Florida last night. That's why we lost.

I think we will improve from this game. Cutcliffe will demand it, Young guys are going to get better. I think we still have a shot to get to Atlanta. I think we have a shot to run the table. Is it likely? NO. Is it possible? Yes

That's just my opinion

Any thing is possible....probable...maybe not..........

I know what you mean about having to wait a year for the next one! That was the first thing I told my wife after the game.

I do have to say I had a tremendous time watching the game. I do not know how to explain it but when Zook was at Florida the game was not as fun to me.

Now that Florida has Meyer I think I hate Florida worse than I did when Spurrier was there.

Not me. I can't seem to generate as much dislike against the Gators since Spurrier left.

Of course, NC, lawgator and the other fine Gator fans on this board COULD have a little something to do with that too.

How can you not want to go up to Meyer and punch him....?

I am the same way about Richt.................

Either our God's gift to football...........

Yes, it is a long year. But it's not too late to set things right.

Thankfully, Georgia is three weeks away. Hopefully the Vols will use the Marshall and Memphis games to correct the things that need to be improved.

I'm not giving up on this season just yet; if UT can beat GA, combined with a couple of UF losses, the SEC East title can still be in the cards.

GO VOLS!!!

I'm not giving up either my man!!! I think we can still have a big year.

We do need to get Foster healthy. I think that hurt us last night. We needed a more physical running back last night. I think he may have had a little better time than Hardesty.

Also the Defense has got to find some depth in the front four. There is a big drop off from the starter to the second unit. I am sure the cheif will take care of some of that agaist Marshall and Memphis.

I am not giving up on the Orange. If I can make it through 05. I can make it through just about anything.

I see us going 9-3 this season.

And after a season like last year's, I'll take it.

Not to mention, with the way Erik and the wide receivers are playing, if we can get our O-line and run blocking to be halfway decent, we'll be unstoppable.

Our performance (while still a loss) was night and day different than our performance against UF last year.

UF was a better team this year and this one could have easily gone either way.

Obviously I'm disappointed in the win but I see a very good team for the Vols.

not seeing it. struggled on offense, defense wore down in the second half. we are better than what we were last year, but we are a average team.

I think we have the team to beat everyone else we play with exception of LSU. It will take something special to beat the Tigers. But it is possible. We won last year in Baton Rouge. So who knows. I think we beat Bama. Georgia is a toss up. It matters how much Stafford improves from now to gameday for them.

We got a shot!! Go Vols!!

Let's just hope that Georgia beats up on Florida...

Then of course, we have to do the same to Georgia.

I guess the word "average" is open to interpretation.

I'm guessing we go 9-3 or 10-2. That will put us in the Top 20. I consider that to be above average.

Here's a list of major teams that I would consider us to be equal with:

Oklahoma
Miami
Michigan
Penn St.
Florida (yes, I think we're right there with them and could go .500 with them)

Borderline equal:

Georgia
Notre Dame

Teams a step above us:

Ohio State
USC
Texas
LSU
Auburn

i'll agree with oklahoma, miami, and pennst. florida beat us at home they are not our equal. michigan and the rest of those teams besides texas are on another level. the fact is coker will be looking for another job after this year. stoops might get another year i'm not sure. papa joe will die coaching at penn.st. we will probably finish 9-3 and go to the peach or cotton bowl. to me that is no great accomplishment. it's just another so-so year for vol fans. the norm.

Watching the game last night, I saw nothing that suggested much difference between UF and us. I'm not discounting their win; just saying I think we beat them 5 out of 10 times.

I've watched some of all Georgia's games and their offense is not good. They are winning on defense and special teams.

I've seen 2 Michigan games. One they looked like us against Cal (yesterday) the other they looked beatable.

We are not Top 10 this year but definitely Top 20.

true we could be a top 20 team, but i don't look at it that way. the way i look at it is we are not a sec contender. when your not a contender in your own conference you can't put us on the level of those other teams. especially with our record against top 10 opponets. even more so our record at home.

I agree with part of you list. Here is mine.

Better than from your list or not on list
Oklahoma
Miami
Penn ST
Florida ST.

Equal too
Lousville
Georgia
Notre Dame
Virgina Tech
Iowa

Borderline Equal
Florida

Teams a step above us
Ohio St.
Texas
Auburn
West Virginia
LSU
Auburn
USC
Michigan

I am not saying we couldn't lose to any of these teams listed. I am also not saying we couldn't beat any of these. But I think if both teams played their best on a neutral field this is where we would shake out.

You may be right. I just think the SEC. Is a step above eveyone else. That is why I listed us the way I did.

I wouldn't think Virginia Tech or Iowa would be a step above us? Do you?

I think we are better than Virginia Tech as well. I don't see them being the 14th or 12th or 10th best team in the country.

that is a really good point. i would say they are equal. at the same time though iowa has one a big ten championship since we have won a sec title. you are right though the sec conference makes the acc and big ten look pretty bad.

Can you elaborate on this volinbham? You always make good posts but I honestly didn't see it that way. Maybe you can talk some sense into me. :)
