tweet by joeshad:

"nebraska chancellor confirmed big12-pac10 merger was brought to his attention"

not sure what that means exactly

I really hoped Notre Dame would end this whole thing by joining the Big 10 where they belong, but nope. Didn't happen and I will now hate them forever for changing the entire college football landscape.

If ND stayed, Nebraska might've stayed in the big 12 and probably only 2 teams would've left for the Pac 10 and easily replaced by the Big 12. Or at least that was my idea...But, again, nope.

I still think that ND will go to the Big 10.

Not that I care to much for Lou Holtz, but I heard him say yesterday that he had changed his mind in the last 24 hours on what ND should do. From staying independent to going to the Big 10. Said he was afraid they were going to get left behind otherwise.

That would be the best for all of us.

nebraska says they are going in 2011 (not 2012). should make things a bit more interesting.

colorado was supposed to be 2012. cal actually already has colorado on the schedule in 2012. i wonder if they can void their games with bayor and the like without penalty.

How the heck does this work? Especially if they're adding 4 more teams?! Talk about a scheduling nightmare for 2011.

good question. i'd imagine it will cost them a bunch of money unless the rest of the big-12 goes along with it.

As these conferences get bigger, ND could get squeezed in the sense that everyone presumably will be playing more conference games, and fewer out-of-conference games. That may make it tougher for ND to schedule the teams it has traditionally played. The only thing that keeps ND viable as an independent is its schedule. I would not be surprised to see them pull the trigger sometime soon.
