I was very disappointed in the loss to Florida last night and, as in every game, one can go back and point to some mistakes or moves that may have prevented victory. However, I think our Vols played hard and tough. Ainge made some good throws and stood in as well as he could under the pressure. I was disappointed in his two underhanded lobs while in the grasp of a defender. It reminded me of the mistake in the LSU game last year. I am sure Cutcliff will address that with him. Overall he performed very well and since we had no running game, he may well have performed excellent overall. Florida also made some mistakes. Whether we like Florida or not, they are a good team. Leak is a bit soft (example: sliding short on a critical 3rd down). He performed well overall but I was happy to see him in the game instead of Tebow. I don't think we will ever get the pleasure of seeing Tebow slide short on any down. I think Florida would be much more dangerous offensively with Tebow in the game full time. We were in this game up to the final two minutes and I think we will be in the game with Georgia and LSU in the final minutes. The worrisome thing is a letdown with the average teams we will be playing. i.e. Marshal, Memphis, Alabama, South Carolina, etc. I think we are OK and we could very well go 10 - 2 or even 11 - 1. The effort was there.... the mistakes will be reduced.... the offensive line play will improve... Go Vols.

I fully agree. At least we have the Marshall and Memphis games to improve on our mistakes and weaknesses before we face Georgia between the hedges.

I believe Ainge, and the whole team, will continue to improve throughout the season. By the time of the GA and LSU games, we will be much better, and I do see us winning both of those games.

as long as we can get our o-line better we will be straight, i get nervous when its a pass play and we r on defense. we will b alright, like i said in another thread i think we can get georgia, and beat bama by 50, but lsu kinda scares me. we should atleast win 9 games, but i'm sayin we will win atleast 10

I think 10-2 is realistic as well at UT is playing right now.
LSU and Georgia will be tough games. I haven't been impressed with SC or Arkansas so far. Bama will probably struggle this year with a new QB.

agreed, though we really haven't seen anything from Bama yet...they go to Ark this weekend and then they go to UF the next...we'll find out a lot about Bama over the next two weeks.

LSU and Georgia...i agree completely...those are the two toughest games...i hate it when people underrate the dawgs...they'll get better.

Bama won't be good this season. They struggled against Hawaii and Vandy. With that said, I don't think we will blow them out. In as heated a rivalry as this one, nothing is certain. I see us beating them by at least two TDs, something like 28-14. We're going to straight up spank SC.

so if the Vols go 9 and 3 that is good? or ok? or acceptable???

If the Vols lose to GA, and LSU, then they are most likely relegated to 3rd in the SEC East. And possibly 6th in the SEC.

Yes that is improvement over last year but is still average in my opinion.

But I will wait and see how the rest of the games turn out before I cast judgment

As well as we are playing right now, did you see our rushing total? How well are we playing?

Depends on which stat you look at. Ainge is at or near the top in passing efficiency. Correcting the problems in the running game is a lot easier then correcting the passing game. The running game will be back, UT has good backs. The Oline needs to improve their technique and leverage some.

UT lost to the team most everyone picked to win the SEC east and only by 1 pt. Florida is a top 10 team this year. Ga, SC, and Bama are all easier games then Florida this year.

9-3=acceptable.
10-2=good
11-1=great.

we all knew we probably weren't a realistic SEC title contender this year going in to the season...what we needed to see was that this team is better and that last year was an abberation.

so far, i think we've shown that last year was an abberation. we lost to Florida, yes, but not in the same fashion we did last year. Last year we gave that game away in a myriad of different ways. This year we just got beat by a better team. and while it still sucks, i can live with that a whole lot easier than i could last year...i knew we gave it away last year. this year, we battled back, and didn't fold at the first sign of adversity. And it is likely that we will get beat again by a better team this year. that doesn't mean we have a bad team, it means that there are just better teams out there than us...right now. the future could be looking very good for us...could be.

why? granted, UGA isn't a gimmie, but it's not like it's not winnable. the only game i think we have no shot at is LSU...every other game is winnable. 10-2 will be possible until we lose our 3rd game.

I see us going 10 and 2 or maybe 11 and 1. Our Offensive lines run blocking is my biggest concern, but hey we had four new starters at the start of the season. Give them time to Gel and they will be much improved soon.

We have a much better team than most people here give credit for.
