westwords "It was a big-time battle, comparable teams, determined defense, offensive streaks and a closing free-throw parade". And now for the rest of the story. Another second half featuring a totally different Tennessee team...
It wasn’t easy but Vols put down Missouri

“Missouri played five and half minutes and got only exercise.”

Love this!

Also agree with Coach’s frustration about missing bunnies:

“What I want to see us do is make some of those shots around the rim. Those are the ones we need to make. When you start doing that, they got to loosen up.”

The last few games our inside game has been terrible. I say our inside guys play timidly. I would like to see put backs SLAMED down, not "excuse me put backs". I also wish these guys would spend some time working on making at least 30+% of their shots from six to twelve feet and I don't mean loll-gaging around. I mean work at full game speed. Most or at least some of these guys can make a slow controlled 6 to 12 footer at a 30+% clip this way. But working hard and fast, not even close in games, not even close.

Agreed. Our guards also blow a lot of layups (I think Mashack missed 3-4 against KY). ZZ tends to “block his own shot” trying so hard not to let it get blocked at times.

Freak posted the shot chart on the game thread and we missed 7 of 14 shots inside the restricted arc. We shot better from 3! Just hit 3-4 more of those and we win by double digits……

Okpara and Phillips aren't the most gifted offensive players, but they're certainly not timid. Not sure what you have been watching.

Marvin West is the Last of GREAT Sportswriters! Enjoy him while we can, he is only 90 years young; and still got it! Worked with the Great Tom Siler @ KNS .
