I'll preface my comments by saying that I was not sparked in any way by the announcement of Butch Jones. Until today, I have had no reason to have an opinion of him. He's just a guy. I wish him all the best and have no real sense of how successful he may or may not be. I'm a little down about it, but I'll be ready by fall.
But, in observing the reaction of Vol Nation, I have decided that it wouldn't have mattered who was named, the reaction would have been the same. All the insults, the name calling, the promises to take your ball and go home. It could have all been written in advance and the blank name filled in today.
Sure, a few may be swayed a different way, but others would have taken up the slack. It was the destiny of Vol Nation to start a virtual mattress fire. It's pretty easy to butcher someone else in anonymity when you have no actual responsibilities for the process.
