As much as I can't stand the Darth Visor, I can't help but rooting for the 'Cocks against Tubby and his almighty Tiger/War Eagles!!!

I don't know if the Visor will ever win an SECC while at USC but he will always mess with a team that should beat him.

With the exception of Ole Miss and Miss. State. I think this year that any team in the SEC can beat any other team in the Sec on any given Saturday !

Auburn and LSU may be the best two teams, but there is no team in The SEC that can guarantee a victory over any other except Ole MIss and Miss State.

Wow, if Auburn is #2 good - then USC is for real.

Auburn's defense is better than what they showed last night, IMO. But all it takes is a mark in the W column.

I completley disagree. That was a primetime game and EVERYONE was watching. Auburn lost HUGE on the style meter, W's like that are "L's" when it comes down to two undefeated teams that may end up playing for the second spot in a national championship game.

Alot of people are now talking about AU being overrated. That factors in when a voter is calling in his votes.

Three comments.

First, this will hurt Auburn. They may not drop in the polls, but this game was nationalyl televised and was the only thing on. If a three-way tie does develop at the end of the year, Auburn just locked the door behind them and they are on the outside looking in.

Second, this is scary for those of us playing SC. They got close and surely gained some confidence. They really moved the ball in that last 6 minutes of that game and that was Spurrier opening things up.

Third, I was impressed when, at the end of the game, the camera panned around in the stands and the SC fans were clapping and cheering. Despite losing, at home, to an SEC competitor, their fans realized that the program is improving and on the way up. Nice to see some appreciation, despite the loss.

I think that AU is somewhat overrated, and SC was up for that game big time.
Now when AU goes undefeated and is skipped over in the NC game the people that are saying AU is overrated cannot complain about the SEC getting screwed out of the NC game.

AU didn't win big in points, that's for sure. That has hurt us in the past when we wouldn't run up the score.

Bottom line to me though is winning on the road in the SEC against Spurrier. SC put up the offensive numbers. 240 yards passing for Newton in only 3 qtrs. (He was on the sidelines an entire qtr.) An easy catch droped by an open freshman TE on the goal line. A veteran would have made that an OT game. You should never lose space in the polls for beating Spurrier on the road in the SEC. They will...but they shouldn't.

Spurrier is the best thing to ever happen to SC. Any improvement, and hanging tough on a game like last night, deserves fan appreciation, for them. The most scary part is Spurrier has just as little to go on as he did last year. I mean, they really don't have alot except for a couple of standouts. And he can bring them to play. Very scary if he ever actually recruits well there. As much as he is "loved" in the VN, wouldn't you just want to see, even if for one game, what he would do to opponents with our talent pool at his disposal. Now, that would be scary.

I think that wouldn't should be replaced by couldn't.

Well, you have a point there. There may have been chances to run it up, but we always change gears and send the momentum back to the opponent.

This close game won't mean anything to Auburn if they beat Florida in a few weeks, especially if Florida knocks off LSU the week before.

I saw the Auburn and LSU game and I think the best team in the SEC was defeated in that game. Auburn without K Irons is in a world of hurt.

Auburn will be fine, USC played lights out. This game wont be what breaks them down the road because everyone has games like this.

I am thouroghly convinced that if UT cannot replicate the effort from the Cal game when the Vols play the Gamecocks, Spurrier's dominance over Fulmer will continue. The Gamecocks looked scary good and they were just as close to taking out AU as UT was to taking out UF, maybe closer.

That's why they play the games on the field brother. Coaches have to get the guys ready to play!!! As the dude in Bonnie & Clyde said "I ain't afraid"!!!!!
