Miami picked up a DE recruit UF and tOSU both wanted. Meh, I feel like UF is always going to be pretty stocked on the defensive side of the ball -- that is not where our emphasis needs to be.

But take a look at his comments about why he chose Miami -- purely because he thinks he has a better shot at getting into the NFL there. Now, if you ask me, its probably a depth issue. He can play at UM much earlier than at UF. He can either leave early, or pad his NFL resume.

At any rate, my point is that anyone who thinks that these kinds of athletes are going to choose a school based on anything other than getting into the NFL are deluding themselves.

I really don't know, either. Have not been following closely, at all this year.

Its just that I keep seeing threads about people speculating why some kid chose some place over another. Whether you think its a coach or facilities, its pretty much always designed to get to the millions.

Loyalty schmoyalty.

Not being a dick but I'm not sure the point you're trying to make. I think there is a wide range of probably weird reasons kids choose a certain school. If you're good at football, the NFL will find you.

I'm pretty sure the U has more NFL than the Gators. Especially on the defensive side of the ball

I am saying that for the vast majority of kids this level, no matter what they may say is the reason they picked one or the other, the truth is that it's a question of which school they think offers the best path to the NFL.

In the past, sure. But this isn't the 80's. My point is that this particular player chose Miami because he thinks that's his best chance to get on the field and prove his worth to NFL scouts.

Yup, this isn't the 80's.....never knew the "u" was a defensive powerhouse.

Warren Sapp
Ed Reed
Jonathan Vilma
Cortez Kennedy
Vince Wilfork
Ray Lewis
Antrel Rolle
Jessie Armstead
Jon Beason
Sean Taylor
Brandon Merriweather

They've done ok.

man this is puzzling. how could any recruit not select uf. it just defies all logic. like you said though...it doesnt really matter. ya'll have what 10 or 12 5* de's already on the roster. now worries. you'll still win every game by at least 67 points (as usual).

where was LG stating anything about any of this? Did you actually read the his post or did you just see that a Gator fan posted it and decide to crap all over the thread with useless sentences?

Most players never make the nfl. I'll take 4 years of free tuition, books and room at a private school in Miami over Gainesville anyday.

Yeah they have, but if that is how your going to describe a defensive powerhouse, then it is nothing special because lots of knowledgeable fans can spat off names over a series of years.

While true most don't make it, when they are coming out of high school a ton more think they will. And in any event at that point they sure as heck going to try.

This is dumb. Kids with the talent can get the NFL from anywhere.

Statistically, according to a recent thread on VN, if you attend Florida you have a higher percentage chance of going to jail than the NFL .

Shall we examine the number of UT players who go to jail versus the number in the NFL?

You really want that to be the standard?

What? Are you now just being intentionally ridiculous?

No. I'm, pointing out that I think you're a moron, but that's based on my humble and accurate opinion.

The few kids that base it solely on NFL production are just boneheads. It factors in, but it's about rapport, playing time, fun, chicks, school and multitudes of other factors.

Stick to economics, where you're supposed to look absolutely stupid.

If one wants a successful career in the NFL one does not go to college in Gainesville.
