All but one of our games this year were against a team coming off a bye week or essentially a bye week. The only game we've played where our opponent only had a week to prepare for us was against Marshall and we won 33-7.

Cal - season opener so they had all summer
Air Force - bye week season opener for them so they had all summer
Florida - played a patsy that they even said was a scrimmage for UT
Marshall - Kansas St
Memphis - bye week

I don't care who Florida played, they didn't have an extra week to prepare.

Florida played Southern Miss, who is now 3-2, including a 20 point win over NC State. No, Southern Miss is not a top tier team. But calling them a patsy is, to be mild and polite, inaccurate.

But actually now that I think about it that was Week One. Week Two was UCF. Not a bad team. Not great, but not like they could be taken totally for granted.

It's also nice that the Third Saturday is on the Third Saturday this year...

I like that too. I'm not too keen on a bye before Alabama though. I hope our guys can stay focused on the tahd for the whole two weeks.

If you really wanted too take them seriously, you probably wouldn't have done the silent cadence thing. Didn't matter, but you were definatley prepping for us.

Now let me get this straight, you say UCF is "not a bad team". Their only win was against Villanova (who knew they even played football??). It was your coach that was quoted as saying they put in most of the UT game plan the week before UCF and then practiced several aspects of the plan during the UCF game - i.e. going the whole game on silent cadence. Trust me, UCF was taken for granted as they should have been.

UCF is not that bad a team. I don't care what their record is.

i get the point you are making, and it is nice to finally have a game against someone that has some real game tape, no major coaching changes and no funky offense to prep for, and not comming off a bye or it being their first game of the season....

Agree that it gives us an advantage as far as preparation and game planning, but it also seems every team we've played that had a bye week before facing us started out slowly on the field, and got behind early.

I've noticed we seem to do this as well. Coming off a bye week we usually start the game more sluggishly than when we played the week before.

Even though Georgia hasn't had two weeks to prepare a game plan for us, I bet they'll be ready to play in the first quarter. We need to jump out on them quickly.

yeah, i agree...and to be honest, that's what i'm worried about. UGA probably hasn't been as fired up or really focused on the competition of late, as their biggest game to date was @ USC....not exactly SEC elite.

This however, is the first big SEC home game for them. the fans will be in to it. and the team will have no problems focusing on preparing for TN. and they will be out prove they are not as bad as everyone has been saying the past two weeks...and what an opportunity they have to do just that against a TN team that has been getting rave reviews of late...

We need to be the aggressor. Put the pedal on the floor and don't look back 'til they aren't even in the rearview.

continue the mistake free play...penalites, turnovers...can't happen in this game. and dont play tight or over confident. have fun and play to win. There's nothing more satisfying than silencing 80,000 plus home team fans when you're on the road. let's hope we do just that.

With all our injury issues at OT and lack of depth on the o-line, I am glad our bye week is coming up.
