I live in Carolina country. The funniest part is all these fans that actually think Hansboro will do something in the NBA.

Yeah, I can't wait to see him go up against the Dwight Howards of the NBA. :birgits_giggle:

I just wonder what possible motivation UNC would have even had for this game.

If Roy can't get them up to win a conference title, he's leading them to another Roy choke job in the Dance

I mean they rested lawson, they have a #1 assured. It's not like they're dumb enough players to fail to understand what really matters over what basically amounts to hung fabric

Why do you ever play the game?

Bobby Knight once told his team that the only acceptable goal was to win every game. And they did.

the last 3 teams and 4 of the last 5 to win the National Title all won their conference tournaments.

I think it might be a bigger deal in conferences other than the ACC.

Since 1975, eight teams form the ACC have won the NCAA Championship, and only half of those teams won the ACC tourney (indicated by *):

82 UNC*
83 NC State*
91 Duke
92 Duke*
93 UNC
01 Duke*
02 Maryland
05 UNC

During the same span (while UNC won 3 national championships), UNC won the ACC tourney 12 times, going forward to win the NCAA tourney just once (1982).

I am saddened that Charles Oakley, Anthony Mason, and Danny Fortson are no longer in the league to properly deal with Sucko T.

He must have forgotten to tell them that in his series of 1st and 2nd round exits from the NCAAs.

(He's a great coach I know but his teams definitely under achieved in the Big Dance on many occasions -- Flame away)

How many of those teams that lost in the first or second round were any damn good?

Not many I presume - isn't that his job though? Again, not to knock him too hard but he did go almost as long as Fulmer without winning a Big Ten title. He lost his edge at IU.

Nah, great players egos are too big to play for Knight anymore. IMHO that's his downfall. Great coach with hilarious moments.
