It's hard to direct Spurrier-hate at South Carolina.

I'm sure most of us relish the idea of anything but a W in a Spurrier column. But if the man who can only afford half a hat is trying to provoke a Florida-like hatred between these two fan bases... we have to ask why. Smooth Steve has won some games, and who can forget that he used to wear orange [of the Buc variety]... but lately he's marginalized. How best to get back into the news, but take pokes at Coach Fulmer?

Hey, the Bucs DO need a QB!!! If you want a really good laugh, look up his stats there. Was this the great sucking sound Ross Perot meant?

My experience with away games at SC has been great. The fans were very nice. I can't even count how many people invited me over to sample their bbq and beer. One specific time, I remember a Vol getting hurt pretty seriously there. Those folks actually cared. Arkansas, in contrast, I'd never bring a date to.

I'm pretty sure the folks who travel know who treats them well, or at least who conducts themselves in a civil fashion. Just thought I'd share that for those of you that watch on TV mostly. SS is going to try and latch on to whatever is left of the old rivalry, and hope it scores him some media points. Outside of a court docket, that may be the only hope he has to do so.
Try not to let the talking heads stir up hatred where it shouldn't be.

I liked SC when Holtz was there, he made it a classy program and he was a classy guy. Spurrier can :furious3: with his 3rd string gamecocks.

I have been to three games at USC and none of them were positive ones.

I hate South Carolina with a deep passion. This was before Spurrier even got there.

I went to two UT/USC games at USC and a UGA/USC game at USC for friends/family who went to UGA.

All three times I had either fights happen, damage to my property, and/or things thrown on me. Safe to say, I ended up in the last visit almost going to jail because I had to fight three students who were calling my family member a "whore" and other names.

I hope South Carolina continues their sad and pathetic tradition of being a joke.

As many people know, Florida fans became a rowdy bunch because of their coach, not just on their own. I have been around several (not all) SC fans and they are not that friendly. SC fans already have it in them to be (pardon the pun) cocky, but with Spurrier, they will think they are the second comming of that 90's Florida team. Make no mistake, the fans will immulate their coach. And for that I will direct my opinions at SC in general, not just Spurrier.

You're absolutely on point. It would be a shame to let the media devolve a nice fan relationship into the Swamp Fever of the past. We need to direct any antipathy to its rightful target: Ol' Half-hat.
As an aside, whose picture is that you have posted? What a great smile.

What is worse...wait until USuCk wins their first East Title if ever and they will make it sound as if they are on the track to become a powerhouse

Sorry to hear that you guys had bad experiences at SC. I guess we all build our perceptions through experience. I can only speak for my own.

South Carolina fans suck plain and simple. When we played them last year, they were throwing bottles at our players after they scored. South Carolina fans can.... :biteme:

I hate USC fans. My mom lives in Columbia and they have to be the most ignorant fans ever. They think they are going to be so good because they got spurrier. Half there fans choose to ignore the fact that almost all there starters got kicked off the team.

Its funny though, every time I go down there I make fun of my friend because I tell them that sc beat up all the clemson starters and still couldn't beat them up.

Sorry U-T. The pic was funny, but it was so big that it was making the thread hard to read.

"South Carolina fans suck plain and simple. "

C'mon now. I can think of a few of our own guys who get a little drunker than they should sometimes - doing silly stuff. None of those folks ever invited you over to the grilling area for bbq? Did you shower that week ?
:dunno:

Well, it's been a while, but my last trip to Columbia was certainly a positive one (aside from having to be in the armpit of SC). We kicked their tails and they knew it. Fans were cool after the game and we actually hung out with them after the game.

On the flip-side: Spurrier brings with him the cockiness of the has-been Florida team of the '90's. Only time will tell what that does to the attitude down there.

In summary: I'd love to see a last-place finish in the SEC East, with only one conference win -- over Florida.
