It's obvious

This storied program did not become mediocre at best overnight. The decline started in the last few years of the Fulmer era (poor recruiting, lax discipline, etc), continued with the rapid Kiffin departure, and nosedived during the Dooley regime. We're looking at a 7-8 year period of slippage here. I know in this instant gratification era, a lot of knuckle headed "know it all" wannabes expect a miraculous, overnight return to excellence. It's not going to happen. We do not have SEC talent at most positions, let alone SEC depth. It's going to take Coach Jones 2-3 years to bring in SEC talent and depth, period. I believe he will. The greatest indicator of the future is past achievements and results. He's won everywhere he's been, he will win here. The rebuilding is just going to take longer. Everything on the field is better than it's been in years, except for talent. The discipline, the execution, the effort are all noticeably improved. The wins will follow, but not immediately. It is becoming more obvious how much damage the 3 previous coaches did to the program. Give Coach Jones credit, he has never used Dooley's "Year Zero" mantra as an excuse, but the overall talent level may be worse in comparison to the rest of the SEC than what Dooley inherited. The kids are playing their butts off. That's a testament to the coaching staff. Get on board with the rebuild and support this team and this program, or shut your mouths and go support someone else. You are either for UT or against UT. There is no middle ground. Great things are ahead, just not tomorrow. Be positive or be gone. Go Big Orange!!

When you look at winning teams in this years NCAA it's all about depth. You have to be able to keep players off the field and introduce constant competition. This is Oregon, this is Alabama. You can not keep single players on the field for the entire game. These young men are playing their butts off and they are getting better EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Worley has potential, but does not have the experience, and his receivers do not have the experience. We are basically putting highschool seniors and walk-ons on the field. That's why leadership training is so important to coach jones. This team is going to be get better and better. They will take someone they shouldn't by the end of the year. Right now the real games ARE the practice games. It's all we have. Every time you start over you start over. Our problems are half the fault of the ones calling for constant change. Winning comes with stability. You have to build long term depth.

Constant change is the enemy. Who's ever fault that is. It's a multiple problem. But the fans are not innocent. You cannot cast the first stone freak. I know that.

I'm all in and I can complete 10 yard passes every time, but I need Saturday's off to watch the game from the sidelines. Just call me the Freshman QB that should be playing.

I'm not casting any stones. My brain is just fried after moderating this board for the past 24 hours. I'll agree that, ideally, some stability would be nice.

I think OP is saying that until you've "been there, done that" it's hard to have a HEALTHY perspective on what's going on right now. I would take it a step further and say that until you've strapped it on at the collegiate level you can't FULLY understand the challenges CBJ is facing with this team.

We are getting better and CBJ is the man. Please give him a chance.:peace2:

Someone care to post the list of early enrollment freshmen that have stepped on the field this year? I don't know off the top of my head... but i'm sure there are a few. North and hurd are both pretty young.

I want to see a list of early enrollment freshmen and walk-ons. It's substantial. The guys we have with experience are all on the line. Even guys like Pig didn't get much play time last year.
