I wonder if (CSS) I believe it was, will do another behind the scenes/locker room show? Last year it was just some really neat stuff you dont ever get to see. Practice field microphones etc..

I remember on it last year, CRS had BS from center doing some scramble type pass rush drill's..You could hear CRS say dang' he isnt smart, but man he's quick!
Then CPW, joking with Tony Brown over a band-aid he had on his chin, asked him if he had problems shaving? Tony Brown replied, "A big girl did it"...

Another was CRS, in a drizzle as practice began saying out loud, "Last time we opened fall practice in the rain, we won the SEC East"...(Stands true so far?)..

I dont remember what it was titled, But it was very well worth watching!
It aired a week maybe 10 days before kickoff UNLV....Go VOLS

Thanks! I don't plan on hearing it in September, so that will really help to curb the curiosity.

Not even bringing the band......damn, I thought you guys were a bigger outfit than that.

Maybe Bama will let you borrow a couple hundred thousand off of the "Million Dollar Band".

Blazer85, I want you to know that I was impressed and touched by the willingness of your board's members to raise money so your band could go to Troy. Anybody who is willing to get out in this heat and wash cars for their band is what I call a dedicated fan. A CRAZY dedicated fan, but dedicated just the same.

Our band is small, but growing. Last year we had about 120, but this year, the size is jumping up to 180. UAB struggles to get money for anything that's athletics-related (including band). Univ. of Ala. Board of Trustees have to approve ALL spending for UAB athletics (including coaches raises). They really have the power to make UAB stronger by increasing funding ...but no... why would they do that? They dont want our band becoming more popular no more than they want our football team to get more popular.

Maybe y'all shold secede from the University of Alabama and have your OWN trustees.

It's been discussed... at least among the fans. I dont know whether the UAB president and other administrators are actively considering that, but all UAB fans would certainly support that.

Blazer85, I've been curious, what is the attendence like at Legion Field? Do you guys sell it out often?

Youre kidding, right? :laugh1:

Our biggest attendance has been like 45,000 against Southern Miss. Average home attendance last year was like 22,000.

Well thats why I asked, I didn't know. I thought maybe there would be a sell out for a really big game. And also, who is UAB's biggest rival?

UAB's fight song will be played once, during pregame

By yall's band? FSU did that... even though a portion of our band was there. It is sort of insulting though. I know it may not be meant as such, but that'd be like us playing Rocky Top. It's just not the same because people dont know how it really sounds. FSU's rendition of our fight song was pretty awful.

As far as selling out Legion Field... that's pretty tough. UAT struggled to do that even when they still played there. Legion Field did have the Upper deck on the East side of the stadium removed, however, so now seating capacity is down to about 70,000 so UAB's attendance will look more respectable. Even with 40,000+ (which is good for a school like UAB), it looks like no one is there when you have 83,000 seats to fill.

Tennessee's Band ALWAYS plays the opposing team's fight song during pregame. It's a tradition that only a few schools do. I find it odd that you say it was "insulting". I mean obviously the PRIDE is much better than the FUS band, but if FSU's band played it during pregame, it was more than likely meant as a respectful rendition. Remember, these bands have all their programs they have to memorize and learn, and then (depending on the year) 6 or 7 other team's songs to play during pregame. I never ever thought an opposing team would take that as an insult.

I will say however, that I HATE that we do that. It's ok to do it for the UAB's of the world, but I DO NOT like having our band play the fight songs of Conference Foes.

Our band plays the fight song of every opposing team that comes in to Neyland. It's part of the pregame. They turn towards the visitor's section and play the song, and turn into formation and strike up Rocky Top.

Instead of playing the opposing team's fight song, they oughtta play We Will Rock You!

:laugh1:

We will, we will rock you, stomp you, tomahawk chop you, pick you up and drop you.

I can see it taken several ways. I can see how it may be intended to be a nice thing. We were slightly insulted that they played our fight song because FSU played it at a much slower tempo than we do, so many assumed it was taking a shot at us by trying to imply that we play that slowly/badly.
