Medium to low income people want be able to get to work. There by would be more depended on the government. This also looks like a ploy to green up our cars. Seems to me the govt is enticing people to buy cars they probably couldn't afford to begin with. Kinda like home loans to whoever wants one despite their lack of funds or awful credit. We saw how that turned out....

it's depressing the market for upper end cars like the 2000 or 2001 Volvo S80 that was murdered and artificially inflating the market value of cars like a 1985 Pontiac Parisienne.

They make no bones about it being about "greening up" the cars in this country. They are VERY proud of this aspect of the program.

The funny thing is 6 out of every 10 cars that are being purchased through this program, are foreign cars. Toyota, Honda and Hyundia. That fact HAS to be killing them.

Also going to hurt the mechanics. Germany has been doing the cash for clunkers program for a while. Used car parts industry and mechanics have suffered. Good thing Obama is the little guy.
