Why is it strange? It looks like he got beat out at BYU, so now he's moving on so he can find some playing time.

What about his mission trips?? Wasn't his religion a huge player in why he went to BYU in the 1st place? I'd say he'll end up at Washington, they were one of his Top 2 to begin with. I would like to see him go to SC and beat out Scroggins.

ohhhhhh Kiffy could get Scroggins AND Heaps.

The best opportunity to play is probably at WSU and Cal. But I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Wash to battle Nick Montana for a spot

Kid wasn't a bad QB by any means. Just got outplayed. Kind of a shame that he doesn't think he can win the position back though, shows a pretty big lack of fire for competition IMO.

He was decent. And no reason he shouldn't be able to battle for the job next year. It's not like Nelson is Mendenhall's favorite. Just last year he pretty much forced Nelson out. Maybe it is that Heaps doesn't like the competition

Oh, I'm not a big recruiting follower. I didn't realize he was planning on mission trips.

BYU fan here. I can answer all questions.

He's good. He had a rough year, but I'm convinced it's because the new coordinator sucks, which is the same reason I think he's transferring. Heaps didn't improve on a good Freshman year, and you gotta think that's the coaching.

Heaps is LDS, but chose not to go on a mission. He's actually married.

He lost the starting job because the play-calling was terrible. The guy who is now the starter is very dangerous running the ball, so under the circumstances he gives BYU a more dynamic offense and a better chance to win.

Kiffin recruited Heaps, if you recall, but I think he'll end up at WSU. It'd be so funny cause my friend from college is also a huge WSU fan and he was going crazy about Heaps leaving. He's a very sensitive fan. He's now saying there's no way WSU takes him. It'd be hilarious.

WSU is probably the best shot he has at immediate playing time. At least he can count on throwing the ball every play. Leach can work wonders with quarterbacks.

Going to Kansas.

Actually, Heaps and Crist both announced they were transferring to KU today. :eek:lol:

Shouldn't be an issue. Crist doesn't have to sit out for a year and only has one year of eligibility left. Heaps will have to sit out next year, but can step right up in 2013.

Won't get him to the NFL

Not necessarily. I don't know if Leach ever landed a player as highly rated as Heaps. His QBs did what they were told and did it well. Some made NFL rosters, just didn't have the ability to stay on the team. Heaps would have had more raw ability than any QB Leach has coached. Oh well, he'll end up an after note after playing for the FUPA at Kansas.
