Shrout was a Pruitt guy who committed after Butch was fired. Transferred to CU then left during the mass exodus. Hope he can stay healthy this time. He put up very mediocre stats at CU. 44% comp rate for 1100 yds.

I wish him well. Wasn't he the kid who had a mother with some help issues, or is time getting my wires crossed a bit?

Either way, can't say I envy him.Botch isn't exactly known as a QB whisperer.

Salters father was in the hospital for a while, don't remember anything about Shrouts mother.

Yeah, I remember Salters dad ending up in the hospital with covid after helping his kid move into Knox. Vol fans stepped up big time to help the family with the bill. You know pops had to be slapping his kid upside the head after his little shenanigans.

The more I think about it, I may not have been thinking about Shrout. Wasn't he a Pruitt signee?

The kid I was thinking about was a Botch signee during his last disaster of a season. The trumpet blower had told his folks he was redshirting him the entire season so they didn't come to the games. Botch then proceeded to mismanage the QB room and had to pull the kids redshirt the day before some throwaway game when the season was already lost. This would have been right before the rule change to allow kids to play 4 games. Also seem to remember the kid being from the state of Texas as his mom either was already sick or got sick right after that and he ended up having to transfer-was all over the news down here.

Edit: the kid I was thinking about was Will McBride.

half this board thought McBride was the best thing since sliced bread. Proving that once again everybody's favorite QB is the 2nd 3rd string guy

Agreed. Honestly, we have been through so many by this point that the names are apparently beginning to run together in my head lol.

I looked up his stats after I figured out what his name is/was. Looks like he never played another down after he left UT. Botch pulled his redshirt during the USM (11/4/17) game and played him most of the next game vs Mizzu (11/11/17) it looks like. Never saw the field again-here or anywhere.

Kind of sad when you stop to think about it. Kid hoped/dreamed/practiced for years and he was chewed up and disposed of in the span of 8 days. All for a trumpet player posing as a football coach who got fired the next day (11/12/17)

Sometimes I really hate this sport and what it has become.

I quarrel with your percentages. He was the only guy we could sign after missing on EVERYBODY. He’s exhibit A when our conspiracy guys present the case that Butch PASSED on Trevor Lawrence. 😏

So you're saying Butch didn't help the individual with his maturation eventhough he had a 5 star heart when we needed to compete for championships first when a 9 win season was the best we had in decades?

Bruh, the kid didn't even get to Knox until 2017. We almost lost 9 games that season-not win 9.

Last thing on anyones mind that year was a championship. First (and only) UT team in history to lose 8 games.

Botch didn't even survive the season.

I guess you didn't notice that was something Jones would say.

Butch might as well send in his resignation at the half. Everyone knew this was going to get bad,but 42-0 in the second quarter? Oklahoma is going to be using their second string to begin the second half at this point.

A dominating performance against a poor Arky state team. How long before some Sooner claims they're back?

Being a named as a starter for Arky State against OU is like being named the first guy off the landing craft at Omaha Beach on D Day.

They put a video camera in your face and ask how you feel about it? You look directly into it and say, "I'm excited."
