Looks like Jackie was the only high schooler who declared for the draft, but was not selected. Is he going to try the free agent route or will he go to college?

I never saw whether he hired an agent or not.

He signed with an agent.

The whole Butler to UT thing was never going to happen. That guy is dumber than dirt.

There is no way he could have passed the entrance exams or pass a college course for that matter.

I assume he will be playing overseas somewhere.

Another example of an agent telling a kid what he wants to hear instead of the truth.

Actually, Jackie had decided to enter the draft before he hired an agent. I should know. I am his agent. You may recall that Jackie was the first early entry candidate in this year's draft. Jackie declared for the draft before I met him. After interviewing several agents he selected our firm. He was aware of my prior background at BDA Sports where we represented Yao Ming, Jay Williams, Carmelo Anthony and others. As for Jackie being dumb, I thinks that's an unfair statement. Jackie is not an outspoken person. But, he is very perceptive and smart in a quiet way. He has a very high basketball IQ as well. He has performed well during the evaluation process, leading the Chicago Pre-draft camp in rebounding. Although not drafted, Jackie was selected to play for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks summer league teams. And, we have strong interest from a number of teams. Its easy to criticize a kid for pursuing his dreams and financial security if your are not in his shoes. Not everyone comes from a financially secure background. Jackie saw an opportunity and seized it. We continue to believe that this will turn out very well for him and his family.

:flush:

LIO, I don't believe it either, but since it's July and nothing is going on . . . for the sake of discussion . . . Why exactly does an undrafted 18 year old need an agent?

docroc,

Maybe "dumber than dirt" wasn't a very nice way to put it.

My point was that he had bad grades and he never was going to be able to pass the tests to get into college.

The only choice he had was to put his name into the draft.

I hope he does well in basketball and makes millions.

Actually, I am Jackie's agent. And, I am a big Vols fan. I attended UNC Chapel with head coach Buzz Peterson. I represented Tenn football star DeAngelo Lloyd when he entered the NFL. Keep your eyes out for Jackie. We believe that he will be one of the best incoming players in the NBA this year.

No job opportunities. I own my law firm, Ken Harris and Associates. Hope you guys support coach Peterson. He is a wonderful person and a great coach. Jackie would have enjoyed Tennessee had he decided to attend college.

Jackie may be a very good athlete, but his social skills are lacking. Maybe it was the fact that he was busy playing Xbox while on the phone (no joke). But he seemed to have a hard time with the interview.

I didn't hear the interview but I have heard several other say he didn't sound very good.

Jackie may have a high basketball IQ but as far as college he wasn't smart enough period. I wish him the best in his NBA dreams.
