Blankenship won the men's pole vault yesterday, continuing UT's fine tradition in this cool event and bringing the Vols our first outdoor national champion in track and field in 10 years. It's also been 20 years sine we won a pole value title, even with our tradition in the event, so a great day for Blankenship and the Vols. And our sprinters had an excellent day as well--Christian Coleman very strong in the 100m and 200m semis. Chelsea Blase came in 4th, I believe, in the women's 5,000 meter final. Overall, a good day.

We will take all the trophies we can get.

UT cares a lot about sports, we are strongly competitive in a lot of sports--but we don't bring home too many trophies, at all. I'd like to see that change. Hats off to the new Track and Field head coach--a woman--who has really revived our once-proud program.

Great to see us have an elite sprinter again!

Christian Coleman set a new Tennessee record in the 100 meters, running 10.03 (+1.6) in the semifinals on Wednesday to record the second-fastest time of the day and advance to Friday's final. Coleman's time broke VFL Justin Gatlin's school record of 10.05, which he ran in 2002.

Honest question, but what do you mean by continuing UT's tradition? What is it?
