Jalen Hurd highlights

Did you notice that on half the highlights the defense was 8 in a box trying to stop him and couldn't??...For his size he has more moves than a dose of ex-lax lol

How many 50+ yard runs did he have? He's quite the back and hits the pile hard. Very impressive! Glad he's a VOL. GBO!

what i like to see is there isnt any hesitation in the backfield... he hits the hole... something that hasnt been seen in a long time at tennessee.. to much immediately cutting it outside lately from vol backs... good to see he can go north and south immediately

It is unreal how talented and athletic he is. He racked up almost 400 yards and 7 TDs against fairly stiff competition.

Of all the things to like about those highlights, the thing that stood-out most to me is the way he hits the gaps and doesn't tippy-toe around in the backfield. He is a big, explosive, downfield runner who has great speed and elusiveness for a guy of his size. I don't know why, but I kept thinking of Otis Anderson. You could also make comparisons to Eddie George. I hope he can be as successful as those guys.

That is one hell of a highlight reel. I can wait to see him breaking some tackles for the Vols. Hopefully he can be our next Jamal Lewis.

Wait! So you DON'T have to fall down when they grab at you with their arms?!! Maybe that's what's been wrong with our running game recently. Hmmm...

6'3 as a junior... Probably 6'4 when he gets here. Is that too tall for a back...?

Is he 6'3, 6'4"? That's very tall for a RB--unusually tall. A bit worrisome, really--running high is not ideal.

He's 6'3". And so was Eric Dickerson.

Not comparing them, just saying. He looks like a running back to me. Just the way he runs. He doesn't dance around. He hits the hole, breaks tackles, and has a smooth kind of speed. He doesn't even look ridiculously fast until you look at the other kids in the video. It's as if he's just gliding away from them. Add to that he's up to 230 lbs.

He may end up being a receiver, but I doubt it. I say the kid belongs in the backfield.

Quit worrying about his height guys. Ridiculous to sit here and say he's too tall. You must realize he is the leading rusher in the history of the state.... Watch the video, there are very few sweeps, the kid hits the hole, gets small, then flat out outruns everyone on the field to the ez. Video doesnt do this kid justice. Everyone should watch a game and see for themselves how ridiculously talented he is. Really, its worth the drive.

Honestly, has anyone seen a highlight tape like this?

Not me Tim. I honestly despised the kid on his run to the top of the chart campaign last year, thinking he would snub the Vols. what he did last year is flat out remarkable. Even loading the box against this cat has little to no effect. His vision is nothing short of remarkable. And to that his speed, and brute force, and you have a winner.

His power and speed are so great that I was wondering if he had field vision, but I saw it in enough runs to know he does. That is so important because defensive players in the SEC will have plenty of speed and strength, so if he has good field vision – which he appears to have – that will allow him that many more yards. He does hit the hole hard and fast. One thing I didn't see was him stiffarming anyone. He'll need to develop that in the SEC, as it will often add a few more yards on to a run or might even slough off a defender entirely. Hurd definitely looks like a pretty good keeper!
