Current generation probably does not know him well but he was a favorite of both mine and my wife. He was a man's actor as well as a heartthrob for women of a generation. RIP..his movies & TCM will keep him alive for future generations.

I liked all the movies & TV shows he was in. I grew up in the 50s & 60s & the TV series "Maverick" was a big hit with us back in those days. The movie "Support your local Sheriff" w/the supporting cast he had working with was & still is a great movie to watch. I know growing up watching James Garner in the different roles he had was amazing. "The Rockford Files" on NBC in the late 70s was a big hit for Garner as well. I know I will miss him but thanks to TCM he will live forever.

I think most people my age remember him mostly from the "Maverick" movie with Mel Gibson. He had great chemistry with Mel.

I remember him most as the grandpa in 8 Simple Rules, but i know that was really nothing compared to the rest of his career. RIP.

The Rockford Files was awesome. I'm too young to remember it when it was on but I remember watching the reruns in syndication.

I love watching Rockford Files on METV!

I don't think anyone has mentioned the more recent film Space Cowboys with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones & Donald Sutherland.

I can do this from memory;

"Who is the tall dark stranger there? Maverick is his name. Wild as the wind in Oregon blowing up a canyon, easier to tame!

Riverboat ring your bell.
Fare thee well Annabelle.
Luck is the lady that he loves the best.
Living on jacks and queens, Natchez to New Orleans,
Maverick is a legend of the west!"

I always thought James Garner was one cool cat.

James Garner was indeed one cool cat.

Makes me want to track down "Support your local sheriff". I haven't seen that one in years. I bet my son would get a kick out of it.
