James Harrison of Pittsburgh Steelers blasts Roger Goodell in magazine interview - ESPN

"If that man was on fire and I had to piss to put him out, I wouldn't do it. I hate him and will never respect him."

Classy. I am no fan of Roger Goodell or the NFL owners he represents but this language is a little extreme. Not the first time Harrison has spoken out. He refused to go to the White House and meet the president after the Steelers won Super Bowl XLIII.

Called out Big Ben too. Sounds like a great teammate.

I don't care about class, and teamwork when it doesn't come to my team. What I do mind is all the crybaby whining that comes out of Harrison's mouth. I've never heard a "tough guy" cry so much. I wish he had followed through on his empty threat to retire.

Put aside what he said about Goodell, he made some decent points in the rest of the interview.

They won't be mentioned because of the Goodell stuff but that's to be expected when you call your boss the devil.

bingo...we have a winner. This guy has got to be the biggest whiner since...there's never been a bigger one.

Always hated the Steelers. This does nothing to sway my opinion. Just another Steeler player confirming why I hate them.

I like how he blasts Roethlisberger and says he "isn't Peyton Manning". Last time I cheked Roethlisberger has 2 Super Bowl rings, Manning has one.

And of course, he plays the race card.

He does fumble a lot.

Mendy linked a stat to his rebuttal tweet and last year he only fumbled twice in 324 attempts. The year before it was 3x in 242 attempts. Ahmad Bradshaw had 6 and Peyton Hillis had 5 last year, way more than Mend.

James is just an angry black man

He is a jerk. But plays a mean game that I mucho respecto.

Poor VY got the business end last year himself.

"I slammed Vince Young on his head and paid five grand, but just touched Drew Brees and that was 20," Harrison said.

This is true.

He also called out Brian Cushing as a roid freak, which is also true.

Which incidence happened first? VY or Brees?

Because if the VY hit came before the Brees hit, Harrison should use some common sense. The fines increase... which means it has nothing to do with race or better players getting special treatment. It has to do with James Harrison being a piece of crap that continues breaking the rules. The second fine is always more than the first fine... I really don't know know what order the hits occurred but I'd venture to guess that VY was the first fine and Brees was the second. In which case, James Harrison is just finding something else to whine and cry about it. If that's the case, the crybaby just needs to retire already. "I'm making millions of dollars but I don't like these rules". Now he's finding away to complain about race when I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with it.

This. I hate the Steelers, but Harrison's brand of brutal honesty doesn't really bother me.

Harrison made some good points. Some I agreed with and others I didn't. However, slamming your teammates and your commisioner is absolutely stupid. He's tough on the field, but whines more than anyone else off of it. How much more will the Steelers tolerate?

This article states my feelings on Harrison.

NFL -- James Harrison's reckless words dull his point - ESPN

He could have made good points, but just sounds like a dumb, angry, football player.

As long as their D keeps getting them to playoffs/super bowls (or until he finally pisses off someone, player or coach, on the team more important than he is) they'll probably be willing to just keep looking the other way when he says things like these
