I agree. I love that sound of country. I love Johnny, Hank and Willie but Waylon is my favorite of all time and Jamey reminds me of Waylon. I like the fact that he writes his songs too. He wrote 'Give it away' for George Strait. Not just some guy pretending to play a guitar and sing everyone else's songs like a lot of the crap out now. For the record I like Brad Paisley too, I didn't want him to get lost in my "new crap" argument.

I saw him on concert last month down in Southaven, he was fantastic. Sounds better live then on the radio.

You know how some folks just sound bad live, him, not so much

now if country could only get more artists like him. seeing crap like kid rock on a country countdown ticks me off. It's a shame that it's gotten to the point that the new women of country are more country than the men. the past 20 years has been the exact opposite.

Anyone know when his new album will be out? It should be this year but can't find anything on it.

Good Post. A quick glance at Paisley's song credits shows alot of B. Paisley in the songwriting credits.

Songwriting is a big deal to me, not that i've ever written a thing, but the greats can write, and do.

From my posts on the country thread you all know i am a fan of traditional and red dirt country, but what do you guys think of John Rich and Kenny, they write some good songs, and are top notch performers. I don't get into much of their style, but they are what they are, and aren't being what they aren't, somewhat of a rarity in Nashville today.

That's true and although Darius Rucker stands for everything I hate about music he just seems like a nice guy so it's hard for me to dislike him personally.

It's nothing against him personally it's more of a reflection of how bad mainstream country music is. The fact a washed up 90's lead singer sees no other options but either crossing over to country music or hosting I Love The 90's and making it big is a indication on how horrible this industry is right now.

I blame Shania Twain and a few others.

Yep, Paisley is the real deal and one of the best guitar players around. I don't know a lot about Big and Rich but I'll have to check it out.

I can pretty much listen to anything on the back end of a 12 pk, except Creed or Nickelback of course. :)

I agree. I'll throw some blame at Kid Rock for being a loser and singing like Limp Bizkit one minute then Hank Williams Jr. the next while ripping off Lynyrd Skynyrd multiple times in the same song.

Kid Rock is an abomination that should be purged from all recorded music everywhere. Detroit.. nuff said..

Im like alot of people here and enjoy more of the older country, alot of people think Garth Brooks killed country. I personally think alot of his earlier albums were groundbreaking with great songwriting that unfortunately propelled country music into this muddled mainstream crap that we have today. Much To Young To Feel This Damn Old is still to this day one of my favorite country songs yet when he went into that showman concert phase it seemed to make country music a huge circus show of pyro and lack of substance.

Garth was a country guy who found the gold mine. He went from singing about a guy who sold bare bones recording tapes from the back of his pickup to being a pop phenomenon. Not necessarily his fault, but the damage was done.

I rarely listen to country radio anymore, I listen to talk radio or NPR, when im home in a radio mood i stream Radio Free Texas, the Red Dirt is where the music comes from today.

I like John Rich a lot more when he is a soloist than when he is with Kenny in Big and Rich. Shutting Detroit Down is a lot better than anything Big and Rich has done together.

Country music could use more artists like Jamey Johnson. Unfortunately, modern country music is inundated with trash like Brad Paisley and Taylor swift and their ilk.

I completely understand that you don't like Paisley or Swift for that matter but both of them are in the minority that actually write their own stuff and Brad is an excellent guitar player. I dislike Taylor Swift's sound but she is a talented song writer.

I like some of Paisley's older stuff, but his newer stuff, like that "Welcome to the Future" song, is just intolerable to me. Swift writes 100 songs about the same subject, so I wouldn't call her a real talented songwriter.
