One tough-ass kid and very classy in a very tough spot.

I don't think it would have helped in this game to throw him in, I think it would have helped if he never lost his starting job in the first place.

Was on tigerdroppings and I was overwhelmed by the speculation of why he didn't get to play. Kind of wish he would have got a shot....

I heard on my local sports radio station that Lee was possibly going to be listed as ineligible due to grades and that's why Miles didn't put him in it. They wouldn't have found out until after the game, but if he was then I guess it could've meant their W would've been taken away from them. Just what I heard, don't know the real reason. I'm sure an LSU fan could shed some light on that rumor.

Semester has been over for quite some time. There was some rumor of JL having issues before SECCG and I think he missed a class after the Bama game that got him in hot water. I haven't heard he was/is/might be ineligible.

The truth of the matter is this was coming for a long time, the decision was not made last night... it was made years ago.

I think JL has been a true Tiger, never blaming others, always saying he needs to improve, always saying a nice word of others.

I actually think it was in the gameplan to have JL come in anyway. There are interviews of that from some of the players. So maybe there is more to the story....

I don't think LSU lost because of Jefferson, it was not his fault but I have never thought he should be the starter.

Sith Vol,

Actually I am getting info that Lee might have possibly pissed off Miles... doghouse time.

UPDATE: I put "not" in the original post.

Miles is just very stubborn and insisted on doing it his way. Lee woulda been a better starter, forcing Bama to respect deeper passes more. Sure Bama woulda rushed him, but he has learned to get rid of it pretty quick -- he did it to us -- and that mighta opened up their running game a bit, although the Bama D was playing pretty inspired and there mighta been no denying them.

What do you mean? I've noticed you have posted this a couple of times.

The Decision to go with Jefferson was made in late 2008, after he took over for Lee. It's been basically no looking back at that point. The time, energy, practice, and coaching went into Jefferson.

Much of the blame was placed on Lee for the 2008, but to be honest the team was not good, especially on D. Giving up huge amounts of yards and points. Lee put up actually very good numbers for a freshman QB, expect for INTs, which he became known as the pick six.

The problem is, he was on a team that needed the offense to score mucho points, he was a freshman, and he had Crowton as an OC.

I tried to tell LSU fans that you have to allow a QB to make mistakes especially in their first year, as if you look at Mathew Stafford stats they are actually much worse than Lee's first year stats, it's not even close.

As far as Lee, what I was hearing after the 1st Bama game is that he stopped going to class and there were other issues, but if that is the problem then he should have been suspended from the team and they should have had Mett ready to go. IMHO

Les did not believe Lee could beat Alabama after the 2008 game, which was a bad game for Lee. Les put Lee in the worse positions any QB has been in sincee 2008, he on que would only play Lee when they were already behind or needed to get out of jam which happened quite often last year.... including his comeback wins against the Vols and the Gators.

I lost all respect for Les when he put Lee in during the Championship game on the last play....it was a blowout and he did not even let him play any meaningful minutes...disgrace to the player that essentially got them into the title game by the way he played up til the Bama game
