Article doesn't say he's dead

Except for the parts that state that he is dead.

A NASCAR driver is dead after a crash at a local speedway, according to a law enforcement source.

Officials say 37-year-old Jason Leffler crashed during a sprint car race at the Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey on Wednesday. Leffler had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken by medevac to Cooper Trauma Center where he later died from his injuries.

Leffler, born in Long Beach, California, drove the No. 19 Toyota for Humphrey Smith Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

I know what it said but they must've just updated the article because it said he was fighting for his life when I first clicked on it

In the web browser, it mentions critical condition, which was his condition when extricated from the wreck. He later died of his injuries. There was a picture of his car in the article when I first linked it, and it was a mangled mess.

Terrible news....First time I saw Sprint Cars live it scared the scrap out of me. I always went to races as kid(Smoky Mtn, 411, Atomic, Tazwell), but I had never seen Sprint Cars in person. I think I was around 12yrs old standing on the fence about 6 ft away from the track surface at turn 2 at Atomic. They were having heat races because there were too many cars to race at the same time on such a small track(1/3 mile w high banking). Anyway, they dropped the flag and 15-20 cars went flying in front of me leaving a dust cloud you couldn't see through. I was was like holy crap, it's not safe to stand here. I instantly went to the back stretch and was in awe at the speed of these little cars(they make 8 second laps at Atomic). 800hp in a car the size of a golf cart weighing around 1200lbs. Yeah they're dangerous, even for spectators. I've since seen them 10 or so times and every time you usually see a few rolling end over end shedding it's sheet metal everywhere. I've seen the wings on top break off and fly over the fence numerous times.

I'm listening on the radio now. According to an owner of a driver in the race, Jason's car suffered from a part failure and hooked into the wall.

I saw this on ESPN this morning. I was shocked. I also didn't realize he wasn't racing in Nationwide anymore. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Was shocked when I read it in the sports section of the paper this morning. I know where Bridgeport, NJ is. Been there to the track.
