You're going to coach high D-I level players at a good junior college. Thus, you're going to interact with high D-I level coaches when they come to recruit said players. It's great networking. That doesn't happen at a SAC-8 school. In this job market any job is a good one, but what is the attraction of the juco route? Is it less academic headaches and lower job stress or are you just able to do nuts and bolts coaching without all the rubber chicken dinners and press responsibilities?
Is an assistant job at Northwest Florida better than say, Mars Hill or Carson Newman?
Take it away people that know this stuff...

good points.
Are there any current D1 head coaches that have gone this route? Seems like this could be used as a landing/jumping spot for a D1 assistant job, but I can't imagine anyone getting a head job out of one of these JUCOs.
That makes sense. (I know more about baseball than hoops, but if you look at the skill level of a baseball player at Walters State compared to say Tusculum, the gap is astounding).
Doc Sadler is the first active coach that comes to mind. Eddie Sutton and Jerry Tarkanian both started in the JC ranks.good points.
