While Bruce Pearl is doing a great job at Tennessee, don't overlook the great job Buzz Peterson is doing at Coastal Carolina in the Big South Conference.

Peterson has been successful at each stop in his career, starting at Appalachian State, Tulsa, then Tennessee, and he has instilled a winning attitude at Coastal. The Chanticleers have won five straight games, including two straight on the road at Winthrop and at Charleston Southern for the first time since 1997, and Coastal Carolina has its best 22-game record since 1994.

Coastal Carolina has not had a rich history of great success, and Peterson's 13-9 record is a major step forward for the program and a great accomplishment. Peterson did not provide the spark Tennessee wanted, but he could coach then and he can coach now.

CC beat UNC Ashville tonight by 18 on the road.

Bilas is saying that a 13-9 "not even a mid major" team should get credit because of what?

Successful at Tennessee?????? If successful is determined by the previous coaching regime...read Jerry Green....then he failed miserably...wait, maybe he means by the coach who succeeded him...read Bruce Pearl....once again...failed miserably.

Bilas should be giving UT a little more credit, last week he didn't even have UT in his Power 16....he may be right, UT may tank in the last few weeks of the season, but to not give credit for playing a tough schedule and a SUPER high RPI is ridiculous.

Bilas is finally on my idiot list. What a joke.

13-9 with 5 games to go. If they finish like a typical Buzz Peterson team, they still have a real shot at finishing under .500.

One thing for sure, they are building a bigger basketball arena for the future, (of course it looks like a they playing in a high school gym now).

My Daughter takes swimming lessons at Coastal so I've seen their "arena" and it is the size of a High school Gym. Everyone is excited about the new arena and the talk is Buzz will get NC to come play the first game there. I'd love to see Pearl bring the Vols over for a game.

Although I like Buzz, what he has done at Coastal in no way compares to what Pearl has done.Coastal was the preseason pick to win the Big South whereas the Vols were probably picked to finish close to the bottom.Bilas comparison just shows his ignorance.

Brent Hubbs of Volquest.com(actually a Duke basketball fan..lol) says that Jay knows and likes Buzz Peterson very well and thinks that Bilas has went out of his way to not give Tennessee and Coach Pearl the "props" they deserve.

That article really makes Bilas look dumb. Buzz had success at Tennessee? I must have missed that part of his tenure here with the Vols....lol. Lets see, was it taking a program that was coming off several NCAAT appearances and driving them to the bottomg of the SEC? By success, is he talking about how Buzz never lead us to the NCAAT and failed to lead us to the NIT in his last year even though he returned all 5 starters from the year before? Was it the 2 NIT first round exits that impressed Blias while Buzz was at Tennessee? I've always respected Bilas as a CB analyst, but this makes him look bad.

Can you really respect an CBB analyst that admits to not seeing Gonzaga and Morrison play this season? I mean they have only played 24 games.
