There's a lot to say about last night's game, but to me, it very conclusively showed us that Jaylen Wright is the best RB in the SEC right now. Dude is averaging an insane 7.0 ypc right now and that's with a patchwork O-line that has had its problems this season. Ray Davis has more total yards, but it's because he has 25 more carries. He's also playing behind an O-line that has been playing very well.

The one argument you can make in favor of Davis is that he catches the ball better than Wright and he's racked up 221 receiving yards (Wright is at 104 yards), but as an RB, Wright is the best RB in the SEC, and we saw why last night. That was an insane performance by him!

I don’t understand the disrespect to our offensive line. Last night even Jesse Palmer showed a couple of replays of the oline saying watch Tennessee’s front absolutely blow that vaulted Kentucky dline out of their trenches. Milton is hardly ever sacked or under pressure and the running backs almost always are several yards down the field before contact.

What this team is accomplishing on the offensively line is not talked about enough. It’s flat out incredible. I don’t follow recruiting enough to be able to compare roster talent by position group, but I would guess our starting five are one of the lower ranked starting groups in the SEC (according to 247’s roster ranking etc). Yet we are unquestionably a top 3 group.

Just imagine 2 years down the road if our starting five were to include nothing but former high-level recruits. Not sure if it is the amazing culture Heupel’s creating, a testament to the innovative offensive scheme we run, perhaps really good coaching and development by the offensive line coach coach (Glenn Elearbee), or that we just have an amazing Nutrition/SNC program. It’s probably a little of everything. But this group has “outkicked the coverage”.

Fans have been disappointed in quarterback, play and offensive numbers this year and rightfully so. But most of us recognize the program as a whole is in the best place it’s been in for years. Heupel has done such an amazing job with player development and rebuilding the roster. He’ll eventually put quarterbacks out on the field that put up monster numbers too. That’s of course what he is known for and this season we’re only a stud qb away from challenging uga for the east. I’m not trying to hate on Milton. It’s not all on him and I realize he is a great kid. You have to be really excited for him having played the game he played last night. That was the best performance of his career hands-down.

Coach said in the press conference that he got dinged up. Who knows what that means. Hope he is ok for Missouri, don’t think we need him this weekend

That’s because he has so few touches. All those dudes ahead of him have way more carry’s. He’s over 7 ypc. There are only 5 other rbs in America average over 7. And none of the other play in the sec. He’s a top5 rb in cfb. Hands down!

He's the best, but I wish he could figure out a way to not have to come out mid-drive. We'll be killing it. He's breaking off 15 a clip, but after the third play, he's tapping his helmet.

Wright and Sampson are impressive.
Small needs to be 4th on depth chart. Give Sheldon 3rd place if he isn't redshirting.

This was from CBS Sports.com today.

Tennessee has the nation's best running back room

This isn't as impactful as other entries in this column, but it really deserves mentioning. There are other teams that have better individual running backs but no team boasts a better stable than Tennessee.

The Vols flaunted their backfield riches in Saturday's road win against Kentucky, blitzing the SEC's second-best rush defense for 253 yards on the ground. For context, Kentucky hadn't allowed more than 200 yards rushing all season even against the likes of Georgia and Missouri.

For Tennessee, that was its sixth game with at least 200 yards rushing. The Vols have reached that mark in three out of four SEC games. They haven't had less than 100 yards all year. Tennessee has a talented trio -- Jaylen Wright, Jabari Small and Dylan Sampson -- that would probably each start for a lot of teams around the country.

Our OL has had some injury challenges, but I'd hardly describe it as "Patchwork". In fact, both the announcers in the game and the talking heads afterwards at SECN said it was "dominant" last night. Give them some credit.

I do agree we lack depth at some positions, but I'd put our starters up against anyone.

But they're our players! Go Vols!

It's a beautiful thing to watch him run thru that line...almost like the linebackers are playing in slow motion. Katie said he went from 180 to 215 right? Added 35 lbs! No wonder he can't breathe after 3 or 4 all out sprints. He bulked up 20%.
