Jeb Bush calls GOP rhetoric "troubling" - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

"I used to be a conservative and I watch these debates and I'm wondering, I don't think I've changed, but it's a little troubling sometimes when people are appealing to people's fears and emotion rather than trying to get them to look over the horizon for a broader perspective and that's kind of where we are," Bush said after a speech in Dallas on Thursday.

"I think it changes when we get to the general election," he added. "I hope."

Wow...Jeb knows how to take all the fear mongering and emotion out of politics. We are going to be ok!

A lot of this falls on the debate moderators. 90% of the questions should be about the economy and energy prices. I wonder why that isn't happening?

For sure, and the answer to your question is the same answer to many other questions: cashola.

This is so true. I heard Santorum respond to a "Why talk about social issues all the time?" type question and his response was, "That's what you all keep asking". Something along those lines. You answer the questions your asked. I truly believe the MSM does it on purpose in an effort to make GOP candidates appear more extreme than they are.

No, it just gets more people to tune in. These things wouldn't be worth the money they take to run them if they spent the whole 90 minutes talking about the stuff that actually matters -- people would be tuning out blindingly fast.

Precisely, this birth control 'controversy' sells, the economy is boring...

Symptom of a much bigger problem.
