ESPN INSIDER:

Maybe now we know why former Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli hasn't yet applied for the NFL's supplemental draft, a move that he reportedly is expected to make, according to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli. Aaron Dietrich of KNOE-TV 8 in Monroe, La., reports that sources say that Masoli was in Ruston recently visiting Louisiana Tech, and that he is also looking at Mississippi State. Why Masoli would want to spend another two years in college, one as a redshirt, is beyond us, but this TV report certainly suggests that is the case.

As ESPN.com's Ted Miller points out, new Ragin' Cajuns coach Sonny Dykes, a former offensive coordinator at Arizona, certainly is familiar with Masoli. Moreover, Masoli probably would be the perfect QB for Dykes' spread system. But why would Dykes want a guy who has only one year of eligibility remaining -- in 2011? Wouldn't he rather have a guy who can grow with his program?

We're not sure if this has legs, but it defies all logic (which is something frequently said about the NCAA, of course). If Pasquerelli's report is true and several NFL teams have interest in Masoli, even as a free agent, how could he put off his pro career for another two seasons?

We're reserving judgment until the deadline has passed to enter the supplemental draft.

Maybeeeeee coach DD can get ahold of Masoli... I would sure rather have him than Brissett, Worley, or any QB in the 11' class hah

CDD is not going to have anything to do with a kid with character issues like Masoli. That's not going to happen, and I wouldn't want it to.

Yeah. But coach DD's whole philosophy is making kids into men. Pretty much making them grow up.

Thats what Masoli needs. A dose of reality, and a coach to make him into a man

Louisiana Tech is the Bulldogs not the Rajin Cajuns. That right there makes the article look like BS to begin with

Actually, CDD's philosophy and goals are to Stop the Bleeding. Attrition has decimated the ranks over the last few years. It's simply his version of what Kitten will be facing when he is down to 75 schollies like we are today.

That's why he's put so much emphasis on the Vols for Life program and how he is letting parents know that he is making every effort to ensure that kids that are recruited to UT will stay in school and not get into trouble. The underlying emphasis on character is to reassure these parents and is an attempt to stop the bleeding while building up the roster.

Exactly, so take a kid who has been doing some stupid stuff in his life, and make him a better kid. It helps that he was a possible heisman candidate. But make him into a better person.

Any school that takes this thug on needs to fire their head coach and AD. He belongs in prison.

He won't be on this team...timing is way off. LaT got a lot of UT and other college dismissals/projects but CDD won't take Masoli. In a few years, maybe. Would be way too couterproductive right now.

So y'all are saying that you wouldn't help this kid? You wouldn't take him in, make him a better person? If i can recall, in the bible it says to forgive and forget. So bashing him for being a "thug" doesn't help. What helps is helping him become a better person and make better decisions.... Jus sayin

He has to help himself first. He commited one crime and got suspended for the year. He committed another and got kicked off of the team. He obviously didn't learn his lesson. This kid does not deserve another free ride just because he has talent.

..I was just speaking on his ability. He does have character issues but if he fit our system i wouldn't be to opposed to getting him.

Nothin has to do with him getting away with it because hes talented.. Talent is an added bonus, but everyone deserves another chance. You can't say you've never done something in your life that you don't regret, or did something and got another chance..

UT has to be selective where it takes on risk right now. Masoli will get a chance. That's why LaT exists. Auburn did it for Cam Newton but they are not in the same circumstances that UT finds itself in. It won't happen here at this point in time.

He got another chance by not getting kicked off of the team for the first arrest. Yes, I have made mistakes, but I have never been arrested. I also learned from my mistakes. It appears that Masoli has not.

he doesnt fit our offense. He is great in chip kellys offense. Hes a truck running the ball and a serviceable passer in that offense but his skills dont translate. Not sure who would want him to play qb in the nfl. Actually hed be oerfect for the wildcat. Nevermind
