Strengths: Quite simply, Jeronne Maymon is a man. He is super strong, one of the strongest in college basketball. He is tough inside, and can finish with both hands. He has a great motor, and doesn't quit on any play. Jeronne is also a smart offensive player. He doesn't take shots he can't make, and is an above average passer at his position. Jeronne has a quick first step that helps him get to the basket when he faces up, and has a decent pump fake that can help him draw contact on shots. Again, Jeronne can finish around the rim as well as anyone. He shot 56% from the field, while being the second leading scorer on the team. He also is a pretty good free throw shooter, shooting 66% last year, improving by over 40% from 2010-2011. Jeronne is a very good rebounder, and great on the offensive glass. He was fourth in offensive rebounding percentage, and was top five in rebounds per game for the conference. Jeronne is also very good at not fouling. He averaged three fouls per game in almost thirty minutes a night, pretty good for a big man like him. Jeronne uses his athletic ability to finish around the paint, and is a tough one on one post defender.

Weaknesses: Jeronne doesn't have a lot of posts move. He mostly uses his strength to finish shots, and struggled in double teams last year. He also is prone to get his shot block, being barely 6'6, and while has good athleticism, can't elevate over bigger defenders. He must improve against double teams also, sometimes forcing bad shots trying to make a move to the hoop. His biggest weakness is his inability to shoot an outside jumper. It limits his offensive game and teams can slouch off him in the high and low post when he wants to attack. He can't block shots, only 10 last year, because he has little wingspan. His help defense is above average, but he does a good job on switches and uses his surprising first step to funnel dribblers into the help when he has to play a guard. Jeronne also goes left too much when driving, and must improve his right hand dribbling to improve his attack.

Final Thoughts: Jeronne improved mightily last year, and seems sometimes to have super human strength. He's a beast on the boards, and shooting 56% being the second leading scorer on the team shows his ability to finish. Jeronne is just an average defender, and won't be great because of his body, but can become better on the help defense. Jeronne doesn't need a three point shot, but a 15 footer would do wonders on the board. He's the leader of the team, and the soul of the team. He doesn't quit, has a high motor, and works as hard as anybody on the team, showing how valuable he is. Jeronne was an All-SEC player last year, and can be even better for his senior season.

Disagree with one thing, you knocking his right hand. He has to have one of the best off hands of just about any post man in America. Equally strong going right or left which makes him so effective, defender can overplay him. Infact, I would put money on it, when at the top of the key he actually goes right more often than he goes left. Great at finishing with his right hand on the right side as well.

As I said, one of the most ambidextrous big men in the country!

I agree on his ability to finish and his ability to go right or left in the post, but not driving to the basket is what I was saying.

Who would have thought we'd be saying this at this time last year?

The words "high motor" "never quits" "great leader" "invaluable" were actually incredible to type when describing him, but were correct.

Maybe Im nuts, but I'd swear from 15-18 out when he'd go one on one, he went right more than he went left.

That's my recollection, but maybe I'm bonkers.

He is definitely more comfortable dribbling and finishing with his right hand, as well as smoother. The ball comes off his right hand with more spin and touch, whereas his left hand is used inside to bang it off the square.

Ok glad to hear someone else think that, especially you Spart I know you know hat you're talking about. I was satying to think I was seeing thing.

It was one of the things I was most impressed with, he was as comfortable/if not more comfortable going right.

It's possible. I'm also doing this on memory too. And last UT game I saw was four months ago. If I was watching tape I'm sure I'd see it.

As a lefty, you'd think he'd have a lot of baseline drives with his left hand, but he tends to prefer to attack the middle from the left wing, so he can choose which way to finish. That seems to be where he is most comfortable with the ball.

Yea he likes to be middle, can use his quickness and his ability to go either way and finish either way to overcome his height disadvantage in the post.

Pretty good. Maymon won't make an NBA roster but he'll make a ton of money overseas. If he did develop that mid range game than wow! Thank God he's got that wide body that allows him to bully folks in the paint. Memphis in Maui is a perfect example of a man playing with a bunch of boys in the paint. I'm sure CJP was asking everyone to step their game up after watching that performance.

I agree with OP for the most part. Maymon still had about 1 lack of focus play in him a game. Be nice to see those disappear this year.

Depending on what he does this season I could see him finding a spot on a NBA team. He's very similar to Blair, size and everything about the two. Maymon hasn't put up those numbers, but who knows, may be comparable this year. I think he'll atleast get a shot and be on someone's summer team, and wouldn't be surprised to see him sign on with a team.
