Jerry Rice has a son, Jerry Rice Jr., who is a senior in high school at Menlo School in Atherton, California, graduating in 2009 - he is planning to attend UCLA in the fall and walk on to the football team.

Maybe some of his dad's skill rubbed off on him.....would be a BIG name prospect for Bray to throw to next year. Any Rivals/Scout guys want to see who's all interested in this guy??

And yes, I know that a name does not a WR make, call it curiosity if you will.

sounds like he would be a waste of space. If he couldn't get any offers with that name then he must not be a very good player.

What is his speed? He looks smooth on tape.

Question, if someone walks on and gets an offer the next year to another school can they just take it or are there limitations?... :zeitung_lesen:

He isn't that good IMO. I have met him and his dad plenty of times and have seen him play. I know he is a kid that is fairly down to earth for being the greatest receiver of all times son. He is not to fast also. The only way UT would take him would be as a walk on. And he hates to play wide receiver.

True, pedigree does not make a great football player.

However, for those of you discounting him immmediately because he got no real offers should check your history. Last I checked, Mississippi Valley State is not the hot spot for super recruits. Also, "Pops" wasn't ever the fastest receiver even on his own team.

Do not think this is an endorsement for the kid either. I know nothing about him. Just a perception check for the VN.
