Jim Delany and the SEC

Delaney is just like every Big 10 fan. They're all obsessed with the SEC.

Cue that Emperor Butthurt gif

And I suppose there are balances when mixing a lying football coach at Ohio State and covering up for an alleged pedophile at Penn State. But I digress.

I had no idea the Commissioner of the Big Ten was that obsessed with the SEC. It's actually quite sad that he is that obsessed.

This piece of garbage is the reason SEC fans pull for other SEC teams.

If I kept an active short list of people in sports who I wish would lose their jobs, Delany would have been sitting at or near the top for many years by now. He's easily my least favorite NCAA sports administrator.

He says he "doesn't have a lot of regard" for Bama as if they stole something. I don't have a lot of regard for the system. I blame the system that let Bama in over OkSU. But, it takes a real idiot to dump on the quality of the team and schedule Bama had.

I love trolling Big Ten fans here. I could write a book on the (often uneducated) reasons as to why the SEC wins, including:

1. The weather is better, so everyone wants to olay there (childish and kinda funny).
2. They're on TV more (same as #1).
3. Weak out of conference schedules (always funny coming from a Michigan fan).
4. Easier admittance into college (like that really matters in the end).
5. It goes in cycles (nevermind the booming population of the South combined with the current mindset toward football. Just compare a Southern Friday night in the fall to here in Michigan. It ain't changing anytime soon.)
6. Every SEC team pays their players.

And how could I forget the absolutely ingenious idea an idiot I talked with had:

"Well, if you took all the best high school players down South and brought them to the Big 10, who would be better then? Obviously, the Big 10. We do that, we start winning again."

I laughed, walked away, and spotted him 17 on the Michigan/Alabama game.

Please do not associate ALL Big Ten fans with michigan fans. That is, by far, the most delusional fanbase in all of sports.

The thing that really bothers me about Delaney is that he keeps trying to keep ties to the Rose Bowl. I LOVE the Rose Bowl. I love the association that the Big Ten and PAC 10 used to have with the Rose Bowl, but those days are done. It is time to move on.

The Big Ten would be very smart to agree to the idea of First Round games at the home field of the #1 and #2 ranked team. Then, if the Big Ten can get their crap together, maybe they can force Bama, or LSU, or whoever, to come play a first round game in Spartan Stadium, or the Horseshoe in Columbus, in the beginning of December. Home Field advantage. Recruiting Advantage. Travel costs go down. Freaking incredible atmosphere. A Semi-Final Game in michigan Stadium, between um and LSU, for a chance at the National Championship, first week/second week of December would be the biggest game in the history of that stadium, and the freaking WT redneck michigan fans would be out of this world crazy. (you would still be able to hear crickets at field level, because the stadium design sucks. . . but you get my point)

And this freaking Delaney chump is worried about keeping ties to the G.D. Rose Bowl. I LOVE the Rose Bowl, but it is time to let go. Fire Delaney!

Also: if he took that bet, it proves how delusional those fans are. Bama by 24. And september heisman (aka shoelaces, aka dreadlock jesus, aka ArmPunter) will be broken into multiple pieces by the end of the 3rd quarter.

God, they are the worst fans haha
And I'm a Sparty fan too, BTW. My dad's favorite team! And sadly he took that bet...

I thought the clown running the Big Ten already brought up the idea of playing the semifinals on campus.

The clown running the Big Ten wants to have the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta and Orange rotate as semi final sites, and some kind of BS about if the Big Ten is one of the top 2 teams, the Rose Bowl would be their home game.

Clown. No Doubt about that. He needs to go.

haha, awesome. Go Green!! :good!:

I understand that they used to be a very good program, but wow. Those folks are so completely out of whack.

A friend of mine here in Rednecksville wants me to bet on the MSU -v- um game this year. He has been bothering me about it for months already. Yesterday we started negotiating which lunch spot the loser has to buy lunch at. . . . and he bring up that I should be "giving points". Something about a win streak.....and his program being down!! :eek:lol:

Delaney is being a jackwagon, but as it pertains the playoff...

A straight 1-2-3-4 would clearly be most beneficial to the SEC. In contrast, eight of the seasons since the inception of the BCS would not have featured any Big Ten teams had there been a top four playoff.

But, because that setup would benefit the SEC more than everyone else, it won't happen. I guarantee everybody else will vote against it.

In spite of his infantile remarks, I do agree with the notion that a potential playoff should be limited to conference champions, because if you don't win your conference then you shouldn't have a shot to win the national title.

I don't like any playoff, but if there were, I would like to see four top-ranked conference champions play, regardless of conference.

Playoffs:
Champions from these Conference

SEC
Big10
Big12
PAC12
ACC
C-USA
Big East
MAC
Mntn West

3 at large
____________

and then PLAY em.
Give byes where needed.
whatever. Im no genius, but this whole thing is not that tough.

One suggestion was to let the other bowls host the semis. The Rose keeps the Big Ten and Pac-12. Then, the title game gets the two highest-ranked teams after the three games. That gem probably came from Delany too.

Even still, that presents some glaring issues.

Any playoff scenario that gets conjured up, I guarantee can have holes shot through it from dawn to dusk. There's no solution that includes all the deserving teams, yet requires regular season excellence.

The venue can be selected easily. Picking the teams to play in a 4 team playoff won't be so easy. The Big Ten, Pac-12, Big XII and ACC want it to be limited to conference champions so they can have teams in more often. The SEC wants it based on rankings so they can have multiple teams in.

Either of the two options for a 4-team playoff in your post would be a vast improvement over the current system.

It would take more than one day to finish shooting the current system full of holes.

How about eight teams, taking the six highest-ranked conference champions, whoever they are, and two at-larges? Then, winning a conference would mean something, and it would require quite a bit of "excellence" to secure an at-large berth, if there's only two of them. If at least one round is played on campus, there would be a reward for finishing higher up in the regular season.
