So apparently Al Davis (Oakland )has targeted Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh.

I am still a little bitter about getting "chris simmed" by Nunes. Imagine if Hamilition makes a great hire and then Harbaugh bolts for the NFL.

Now that would be funny.

Would be quite funny. I wonder if he would stay with them? He said it was his dream school.

Stanford grad doesnt suck on the ole resume, not taking away anything from UT. Maybe the kid has something on his plate after football.

Maybe I'm just being naive but I don't understand the humor or taking any sort of pleasure from this if it did work out that way for Nunes. He made a decision then changed his mind on what he thought was best for him. Boyd just did the same thing to WVU and I don't think anybody around here is holding that against him.

First off, it isn't like I said I hope he gets seriously hurt. And yes you are naive. Nunes nominated himself posterboy of the 09 class and then dissed us. And if you don't think he is recruiting against us now you are crazy. I would find unbelievable pleasure if this happened because there would be no telling what that puss would do next. Before its over, he will have decommitted twice, begged new coach to reextend his UT scholly, and then commit to Fresno State on NSD.

Ask the WVU fans how they feel about Boyd and you are liable to find a grudge bigger than mine. Of course we aren't complaining about him.

See, that's the part I just don't get. Once he decided to back out I didn't really care a thing about him, bad or good. I moved on. Guys do this all the time, why care? The guy who got him to come here in the first place is about to be out of a job so it may have happened anyway.

And my point about Boyd isn't what the people from WVU think about him. Why isn't he a "puss" for doing the same thing Nunes did?

You sound like Nunes mother...keep us posted cause I really don't care.....boyds better anyway. You are obviously more sympathetic than I am and I won't contest that. However, I don't care if I ever hear his name again.

Aren't you the one that brought up his name in the first place?:)

Who cares about Nunes? He decommited. Wouldn't you if you lived on the west coast and wasn't sure about UT? I mean if you were a Tenn HS prospect and thought about going to a west coast school then decided that wasn't what you wanted to do, you should have the choice, especially if it is early in the season. Its your own future. He's gone, get over it. IMO Boyd is gonna be better for us anyways. He seems to love the school. It works out for everyone.

Why would anyone in there right mind want to work for Al Davis unless it was money. The old coot died 3 years ago and they have him propped up in a chair holding a sign saying fire him.

The reason I started this thread was obviously b/c you guys needed something to argue about and an avenue of displaying your sympathetic compassion. Your sticker is in the mail.

Its easy to say "good luck" to Nunes now that TB is committed. But he about screwed us whether it was understandable or not. And I don't wish bad upon him, but I can't help that my familarity with him sparks interest when I hear his name brought up. Half the folks (including myself) think Nunes is a wuss and that the boos scared him off. The other half think he loves stanford. I think the truth would come out if Harbaugh did go to Oakland and I am interested to see who was right. No one likes to be wrong so I started this thread for those who are interested.

Instead of asking me why I started a thread about a guy I don't care for personally, I ask why you guys are so worried about what I think and posting so damn much on a thread that you don't agree with. If this indeed happen, this thread was inevitable so don't hang me for identifying the ramifications of the Oakland coaching vacany.

When I saw the Harbaugh interest displayed by Oakland I wondered the same thing about Nunes. It doesn't take Nostrodamus to ponder this happening. I think people care because whether people believe he left in spite of UT or because of UT, they want answers. IMO, deep down they want Nunes to pay. The fact that he is no longer affiliated with UTK makes him irrelevent unless you want to see him suffer. No matter why you think he left.

I'm sure I'll get slammed again for posting in this thread again but this is what I was trying to understand. I'm not sympathetic to the kid, but after he backed out I became apathetic to him. Couldn't really care one bit if he suffers or prospers because it won't impact UT in the slightest.

Oh and Grateful, my intent was never to hang you I was just curious as to the motivation. I wasn't ever trying to attack you but I was just trying to understand what you thought the difference was between what Nunes did and what Boyd did. I was indifferent to Boyd beford he backed off his committment to WVU, then I cared again. If I got under your skin, it wasn't intentional because I genuinely appreciate the information that you provide.

I appreciate your objections likewise and our ability to debate constructively. I was and am in no means leading the "I hate Nunes" campaign and that was the road I was being forced down. We would've lost him last week regardless and I am glad he's in the PAC-10 instead of the SEC. I started this thread b/c if Harbaugh entertains the Oakland offer, it will be very amusing for UT fans to follow. If he should decommit again, it would validate the fans who think he pussed out on UT. Furthermore, I would love to see him beg for a scholarship from our new coach as well. Personally though, I really don't care what happens to him. Unfortunately, like Chris Simms, me and other fans will never forget what happened.

Fair enough, I guess I just look at the end result as a plus because of our open spot for Boyd, who I think we both agree has more pontential.

Also, for me its an added bonus because he is local to my area and I always love it when guys from around here decide to bypass UVA and Va. Tech and head to UT.

Oh yeah, its definitely a plus that we got Boyd in the end. I thought Nunes was polished but Boyd is even better than he is. When you see Boyd's video, you realize within 10 seconds that he is one of the best in nation. I don't know if I've ever seen a highschool QB sale playaction that well and then hit an open receiver in stride.

In the end, I guess you are right to not hold a grudge against Nunes because we benefited from his departure. Lets just leave it at this, I hope we get Marlon Brown and IF Harbaugh goes to Oakland, I hope Nunes begs for his scholly back.

Our defense is getting it done, our offense is the problem. Leach is a weirdo and unstable,....Jim Harbaugh is a REAL footballman. He has PRO experience and can design offenses that will lead the VOLS against the best of the SEC. We NEED to keep Chavis with us and get an offensive guru to get the ship straight.

But damnit, Hamilton needs to let Phil fire that jackass Clauson and stay,....this is stupid,...WE WERE IN THE SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME JUST LAST YEAR! We got problems, but that is football. One crappy season doesn't get you fired. Had we made a better hire for the OC we wouldn't be sucking so bad. Let Fulmer fire that dork and get it straight next year.

I know that isn't going to happen, so fix the offense, JIM HARBAUGH will be a great VOL.
