nick stephens dominated texas football his seinor season and would have his junior season if he didnt have transfering problems... haha so are you saying if you play one year you have bust written all over you?? tell that to Big Ben who started a total of 1 year in hs football, and now is a superbowl champion qb....

jimmy will never come here. period. doesnt matter if Cutt is here or not. He knows how most UT fans hated Casey. Later UT fans turned on Rick. Why would he want to go here? You think his brothers are pushing him to go to UT? He is going where the hot players are going. Pray he doesnt go to Florida. I dont know how i would feel having Jimmy leading the gator band in Neyland. :banghead:

That is way off base but I won't take this thread down that road again.

If he does go to UF then great, good luck to him. I don't see him putting up 34 wins. He will just have to put up with losing to his brother Rick @ UT and his brother Casey @ MSU. I hope he'll enjoy it. :p

Yep... And all the Clausen-bashing Vol fans will feel pretty stupid if/when Jimmy goes and leads Notre Dame to a national championship. If Weis stays there, I don't see any reason why he couldn't. Unfortunately the kid is that talented.

Right now my guess is that Jimmy has equal consideration for Steve Spurrier and Charlie Weis.

I could see him losing to us with Rick as an asst. coach, but Florida losing to MSU? With the level of class Meyer just pulled down, I don't see that happening.

It happened 2 years ago.

I wish this thread would just wander off like an old dog and die a peaceful death.Haven't we rehashed this Jimmy Clausen thread enough to last for at least another year. :dunno:

way off base? i remember being in neyland and seeing Shuler walking. A voice from the crowd said, "Hey, Heath? Can you get me Guss's autograph?"

Clausen was ragged and ragged for his foot work, his haircut, just about anything and never given full credit for the numbers he put up. The point of my WAAAY OF BASE comment is why come here when Jimmy knows how spitefull our fans can be at the smallest sign of weakness or less than perfect performances.

or maybe he is still trying to forget the South Carolina game.

Big Ben is a bust! He did nt win the game his surrounding talent, and the poor play of seattle won the game. He has had a couple of good games and everyone is putting him up there with the greats, but imo has yet to prove anything other than the rest of the team can win a football game. As far as stephens, he might be great, dont know myself, but aige was supposed to be great his sophomore season and we seen how that went. As far as the Clausens, I think Casey was a good qb, he consistently won games. Rick was ok at best. You know the bad part about last year is the fact that as fans we were thinking going into the season that we were going to be great. But we should have realized that just the fact that Rick was competing for the starting position should have thrown flags that we might have a qb problem. He was a transfer from another sec team, 3rd string qb. If he was really good LSU wouldnt have let him transfer to another sec team, and he wouldnt have been third or fourth team the year before. Dont get me wrong, I was pulling for him to start, just because I thought he was safer than Ainge and he provided leadership. I wouldnt mind getting JC, but if we dont, oh well. Just my opinion though.

If only I could be a successful failure like him...

I would've said that about Roethlisberger last year, when he was throwing INTs all over the place in the playoffs... but his improvement was evident this season. He tore the Colts and Broncos up in the playoffs.

Hopefully, this time next year Crompton will have played so well, we wont care where he goes.

I hope that Ainge plays so well that we won't care and Stephens red shirts. Now that would be great.

i want jimmy here, not so much for him, but for the players that will likely follow. if he comes, there is a great chance that his 4 d1 teammates come and also the #1 wr for next year. thats the #1 qb, possibly the #1 rb/lb, and the #1 wr. thats not to say that others dont follow as well, but he is likely to head to nd, along with those players and the #1 ol in the nation(oglesby).

If UT's offense wakes its lazy a_ _ up this year, uses all the talent speed & resources we have, there's no need to sweat it. Every top flight qb, wr, rb, etc. in the nation will want to become a Volunteer. BUT if we CONTINUE to use our boring 8 play offensive scheme as core regiment with our stagnant, slow, predictable, sleepwalking offense, I for one wouldn't blame any top flight recruit from ignoring UT.

Really plain & simple!

I am just sick of the Clausens in general.....I hope he doesn't come to UT. I don't want to have to see his goofy dad surround him so small children can't get his autograph or a picture made with him...thats how he acted with Casey..not sure if he acted like that with Rick. To add to the rumor mill I heard Jimmy had on a Bama jersey during the Bama/UT game this year...anyone know if this is true?? I would hope not.

I just don't care. I would love for a talent like that to to come to Knoxville, but I'll be darned if I'm going to start following every move of a 17 year old a full 12 months before signing day.

Clausen recruitment is far from over. It won't be over until Feb. 2 of next year. Any "leads" right now are too premature to have any relevance. For people to say they are "sick of the Clausen family" and don't want him to come to UTK are people with a serious character problem. You don't know these people personally. This family's personal life is not your personal life. If one of their children chose to go to UTK to get a free education and play college football then it is really NONE OF YOUR CONCERN. Geez, grow up! I personally wouldn't mind him coming to UTK because of the reason someone just said...perception and the "follow the leader" attitude that some players will have. But, don't forget that UTK is heavily involved with some very good QB's in this class besides just Clausen. This Kinne kid out of Texas will probably be the #2 QB in this class and UTK is in good shape with him.

If i were Jimmy clausen he should go where he feels like he can have more growth and think about his future. Can Cutlcliff stick around all 4 years with him if decides to come to UT? The same can be said about Charlie wiess if he is able to leave ND to go to the NFL.

i could be wrong but i think wiess signed a pretty long contract at ND and i think he is having too much fun up there to leave anytime soon so if that is what it comes down too, i think wiess may be at ND longer than Cut will be at UT unless Cut gets promoted to head coach

I knew he signed the long term deal. I am not sure if he some kind of esape clause to get back in the NFL. Tom Brady said that wiess is the best coach he has has ever had. Coming from a 3 time winner, that is a good reference to have when it comes to recruiting a stub qb.

well i dont know if ND would let him have an escape clause but i'm sure if an NFL team wanted wiess bad enough that they would come up with the money and buy out his contract but yeah i see your point when tom brady says wiess is the best coach he has ever had that definetly looks good on your resume

Jimmy Clausen has NOT commited to Notre Dame. Mr. Clausen says not to expect an announcement anytime real soon.

By the way, Jimmy will be at Tennessee in March to take in some of the Tennessee's spring practice and to further build a relationship with Coach Cutcliffe. Tennessee is very much back in the picture for Jimmy.
