I read on one of the ND web sites that Jimmy Clausen had given ND a silent commitment and would probably go public sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. Is that true? I thought Cuttcliffe had an inside track with JC. Is the family "pissed" at Fulmer for the way he treated Rick, and would that influence JC's decision? I thought the Clausen family actually liked East Tennessee and admired Fulmer and Cuttcliffe. I guess what I'm asking is the race over for JC and have the Vols given up on him?

I got a silent commitment from Farah Fawcett back in my college days. She kept her word to me like Nick S. did to Ole Miss.

I can still remember the student section chanting "Clausen sucks" during Casey's junior year. At the same time, the O-Line all got injured and Casey got sacked about 9,000 times. Casey got hurt that year, too. Then everything that happened to Rick last year... I just feel like there might have been a few too many bad experiences for the big brothers. I just hope he doesn't pull a Leak, and go to Florida to get revenge for his brother.

I'd like to see what Crompton can do this spring. Fulmer said he made great progress and will be ready for spring practice. Hopefully, this time next year, we will only be looking for a 3rd string QB behind Stephens.

He's not a dual threat QB so I wouldn't worry about that..I'd worry about SC though!

ND signed to very top notch QBs in this class. They'll have an opportunity and a leg up on Jimmy.

I do not believe he'll go to ND.

I don't expect him to come here either because of Crompton, whom I believe will be our QB before the season begins.

Big Ben is a bust! He did nt win the game his surrounding talent, and the poor play of seattle won the game. He has had a couple of good games and everyone is putting him up there with the greats, but imo has yet to prove anything other than the rest of the team can win a football game.

I'm a Browns fan and hate the steelers with a passion and Id have to say your either A.) insane or B.) blind, deaf, and retarded. Big Ben has had success because of his team, yes, but what qb dosent, look at all the flops, stick them in a dominate team and theyre career could of been completely different.

Insane, blind and deaf maybe. But retarded is a bit strong! :eek:lol:

If SC has another sucessful season, could be SC bound. If they recruit good offensive talent to surround him, it could be dangerous.

his recruitment wont last till feb 2 because he is enrolling early so his recruitment will likely be all but completed some time this summer

If UT's offense wakes its lazy a_ _ up this year, uses all the talent speed & resources we have, there's no need to sweat it. Every top flight qb, wr, rb, etc. in the nation will want to become a Volunteer. BUT if we CONTINUE to use our boring 8 play offensive scheme as core regiment with our stagnant, slow, predictable, sleepwalking offense, I for one wouldn't blame any top flight recruit from ignoring UT.

Really plain & simple!

I see you still haven't expanded your droll vocabulary

Oh but you are so wrong my friend!!!
I expanded my vocabulary greatly after UT's recruiting farce.
I simply felt that language was inappropiate here.

Unfortunately, his choice will not be UT. Regardless of how much faith you have in Fulmer, Sanders, Cut, etc.
It ain't going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can always dream, but be REAL, always real.

if sanders gets him, well, that' would be something seeing as how he'd be playing for KY....lol.

just keeping it REAL!!!!

Go Vols.

ESPN's Outside the Lines did a special on JC...his personal coach (who used to play with or have some association with Bernie Kosar) said JC has the "accuracy of Kosar and the arm strength of Marino." Is this a little premature? Yes. But I saw the footage and he is the best high school quarterback I've ever seen (inc. Peyton). TN would be lucky to get him and trust me CPF would jump at the chance. Pete Carroll supposedly watched him for 15 mins. and offered him a scholarship...he's had a couple of "decent" QB's in that program

Well, I'd rather be wrong when thinking the best than correct when thinking the worst. You have a very pessimistic view of the world and I feel bad for you. Sometimes it's OK to go out and have some faith in something, it makes for a much brighter day.

UT has just as good a chance as any team out there. There will be 118 teams that don't get him and it won't kill any of those programs.

excuse my retardation for not jumping on the wagon with ya here buddy. I can give you a most recent example, this years super bowl. I know one game does not sentence you to bust, but IMO that is is not the only bad game of his career. Unfortunately neither one of us can prove our opinions, there is not enough data. But if he comes back next year and does a great job, I'll apologize for my ignorance and use his picture as my poster. I dont see him doing it though. I was just stating that I think the rest of the team deserved the credit for this years season.

hey, no sweat it happens. but big ben will be fine and has been fine.

the think about him that gets people, like yourself, to not think he's a great, or hell even good, qb is that he isn't asked to do alot.

no denying that he didn't have a good sb, but he did make plays. and he makes plays that win games. whether it means making a tackle, block or scrambling for 1st downs, which he did twice in the SB to keep drives alive late in the game...

plus, he's just finished his 2nd year....he'll get nothing but better and there won't be any stage that's too frightening in the future. He's already been to the biggest and played like crap.....

you are right about one thing though, that team is good. it was good before he got there. but he makes it better. as is evidenced by the rings they will be wearing!!!

Go Steelers.
