No, but at the rate they're going, he'd be stoopid not to give them a long, close look.

Spurrier can handle two years with Mitchell and wait for him. If he thinks he has a chance he better hope he comes up with some better OL players. SC is not known for the OL types and it will definitely take Spurrier himself going around to bring them in. Plus the facilities over there are crap. USC I hear gives out a classy diploma as well.

On a side note they quoted some players saying they didn't pour GatorAde on Spurrier but poured CockAde on him. They briefly were told please just stick with calling it GatorAde.

I don't know where you got your "facilities over there are crap" info. One of the reasons Spurrier said he came here was because everything was in place to build a winning program, specifically facilities. South Carolina has poured tons of cash into the facilities in the last 5 years, especially at the stadium in a new weight room, track and meeting areas for the teams that are second to none. I got a chance to tour it before the season and it is top shelf. I would like to see the stadium brought up another notch as far as amenities for the fans, but as a Gamecock fan and Columbia resident, I'm calling you out . You need to get your facts straight.

I don't know why a high school QB wouldn't want to play under Spurrier...

USC does not fill the stadium every week with 100k fans. I dont know where you get your stats from, but UT has a much larger fan base, and generates a lot more revenue then USC. I'm not even sure USC has better facilities and a larger fan base then Clemson.

Compared to other facilities in the conference alone SC is pretty low down the ladder. I'm repeating what many recruits have said and what people I know who have gone there, go there now, and have looked there have said. Maybe compared to the past five years there have been great improvements. Good for the school. But compared to other schools in the conference and other big programs in the country the place has a long ways to go.

So call me out. I'll answer. I'll take you on a tour of some other facilities just in the SE and we'll see how the comparison is. I wasn't trying to insult the place. Just saying compared to other places it's low down the list. Glad there's improvement there. Keep up the good work.....or something like that.

What "stats" are you talking about, Okie? I guarantee if there were 100k+ seats in Columbia, they would be filled. Our longsuffering fans have filled that stadium with losing season after losing season. If comfort was taken into consideration and you didn't have to use a shoe horn to get into your seat at Neyland, you may not be able to squeeze 100,000 in there.

Tennessee is unlike most southern states that have more than one major D1 school. Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, etc. The whole state of Tennessee backs the Vols. South Carolina is basically 50/50 in it's support of Carolina and Clemson. I just don't think it's a good comparison. I'm not delusional enough to say South Carolina was on the level of UT.

I'm just defending my school when I see somebody say our "facilities are crap." But I guess that's not an insult.

Yeah and if UT stadidum seated 200k there might be 200k people there. Thats a big if. Your stadium seats bout 80k, live with it.

And by the way, tennessee has 2 schools in the SEC, UT and Vandy so dont give me this garbage about one major D1 school. Your just demonstrating you dont know what you are talking about.

Since when has Vanderbilt not been a major division 1 school?

It's not a matter of being "major". He's just making the point that Tennessee is a little different from most states in that there are not two schools with large fan bases.

I liked Columbia and Williams-Bryce Stadium. They had "rides" in their parking lot the last time I was there. And a train.

True, UT has a 100K+ seating capacity, but I don't think it'a always been that way has it? It took many years to get there.

UT was getting 80K in the stadium in the 70's when majors was going 4-6.

Neyland Stadium was built in 1921 (known as Shields-Watkins Stadium back then). It has gone numerous expansions, probably in the neighborhood of about 20. 1996 was the year the upper deck came full-circle and the seating capacity passed the 100,000 mark.

thats entirely false about how the whole state follows ut. many in chattanooga follow alabama or georgia, many in nashville follow vandy, and many in memphis follow a mississippi school, arkansas, or memphis. it may be a little more lopsided than sc/clemson, but it still is split.

Under Spurrier's system, quarterbacks look awesome in college... however, he does not prepare them very well for the NFL.

"USC does not fill the stadium every week with 100k fans. I dont know where you get your stats from, but UT has a much larger fan base, and generates a lot more revenue then USC. "

In all fairness here, the state of Tennessee is at least three times the size of South Carolina. It is logic they have more money.

Jimmy won't play for Spurrier because Spurrier develops role-player quarterbacks, not NFL superstar quarterbacks. JC is daddy Clausen's last shot for the NFL retirement program. I guarantee he will wind up at USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Miami, or maybe Texas or Oklahoma. I'd say there was an outside shot of him coming to UT if Cutcliffe is back at OC and working closely with the quarterbacks.

Of that list, who does, by and far, develop NFL QBs consistently.

Michigan has as many as Miami

If you look at the 100 or so NFL QBs, the colleges are all over the place.

Clausen doesn't come here for two reasons.

Crompton
Won't want to follow behind the Rick Clausen debacle

Your def correct 58.

GAVOL that COCK and other inferior schools try to use that "we have more than one school and ya'll get everyone in TN" back handed compliment crap. Some used to say TN only has Vandy. Now we have the Titans and the Grizz to compete with for $ and we still kick tail.
