Jimmy Clausen

Sounds like Jimmy is believing his own press releases. Now he is at least a STAR in his own mind. :bad: If he has gained all this self-embellishment, braggadocio and swagger, Notre Dame needs him much more than we do.

Glad he will be trying to survive at ND.

Let him run through his senior year. As the article says, he has a LONG way to go before he hits that field as a starter at Notre Dame. Banking on fame and fortune this early is foolish. Shows a typical character flaw for an 18 year old...expected. But for the Clausen family for allowing it to come to this? Mama and Daddy Clausen better hope their bread and butter produces and comes to ND healthy. Nothing worse than having an 18 year old kid make you a national embarrassment through your own doing. I think this goes into the column of discussion when we talked about Mama Mustain.

I really think a lot of the negativity about Jimmy is sour grapes. We got our feelings hurt because he didn't go to UT. I said I didn't want another Clausen at UT when he was still considering us because they have been over rated and never did anything special at UT. I wouldn't expect Jimmy to be any different.

If he does stay healthy he probably will be a college star, and will almost certainly wind-up a 1st round pick in the 2010 NFL draft. Weiss is defintiely building a contender up there.

I hear what you're saying but I would rather have the #1 prospect in the nation as a commitment than some no-name kid from palookaville.

Based on what I've seen from the other 2 Clausen QB's I would suspect he has limited arm strength and foot speed. Making him probably an above average college QB like Casey was, but not an NFL type QB IMO.

I think Casey was the no. 5 rated QB prospect at high school.

I was more upset losing Mitch Mustain rather than Jimmy. Our team needs more people who see this as one unit. We have had too many ME players and that is why we are in the predicament we are in.

From everything I have read about Jimmy he is far more gifted that either of his brothers, even both brothers say that. The thing that stings about this whole situation is that UT comes off looking like a program that just wasn't good enough for the best of the bunch. Whether that turns out to be the case is anyone's guess. I do think that our recruiting is going to be worse this year than it was last. We are on a downward cycle at this point and we really should not expect elite athletes to want to play football for the orange.

If I was an incoming recruit, it would be hard not to notice the lack of progression of various offensive players.....especially at QB and WR. It is safe to say we are no longer WR University. We have even had a lcak of productivity on the OL, which we have never had a problem with. That is what scares me.

The difference: Casey was the #5 QB in his class. Jimmy is the best QB recruit to come along in a long, long time.

I need to brush up on my recruiting history, so what's the last time any recruit THIS highly touted (by that, I mean far and away the best prospect of their class) has been a bust?

Ron Pawlus comes to mind.
