According to the link her solution for every issue is smaller government. The uni-party will squash that with speed.

She has no shot at winning but I refuse to vote for either cartoon caricature of a human the traditional parties are offering
I checked her out last week. I agree with every part of her platform. She should have chosen a better VP...someone with more "gravitas".

Too bad she literally has no chance.

Another good point. The VP choice is a head scratcher.

Sad part is this, if a 3rd party couldnt win this election, I cant imagine one they could ever win.

The closest the 3rd party came was with Ross Perot. Got 12% of the vote (from memory so dont quote). Sucks too. Her ideas are closest to my own.

Probably not. Not under the current format. Too much money involved in the current parties, and the Ds/Rs don't want to dilute their power either.

What is it going to take to have a legitimate 3rd party candidate have a chance in the presidential election in the current format, or this that even possible?

Grass roots organization, local and state level wins, money (lots and lots of it) and time.
Deck is stacked against them.

People to stop believing the "you're wasting your vote" line. Also need to wake up to the fact the 2 political parties are there to serve themselves, not the people. It's not a team sport but they'll sure let you donate and claim DFL/RFL status

It's hysterical when people say that to me followed by, "well I don't like X, but there's no way I can vote for Y, so I'm voting X.

One lesson I've taught all of my kids from an early age, 'The only person you can control is yourself'. There is little to be gained in hoping, wanting, trying to control what others think, say, or do.
The LP would do well to heed the lesson. Instead of hoping for some mass serendipity among voters, they could control their response to the opportunity which is present.

I am not in the party so I don't know about the structure or leadership. It seems to me the LP expects to run a candidate every 4 years (without a lot of promotion) and be on the same level as the R and D candidate. It doesn't happen that way. Ross Perot's run should be copied (sans crazy) because no 3rd party candidate has come close to his numbers in 30 years.

She seems like she might be an anti-vaxxer. At least her answer to the question regarding immunizations for communicable disease leads me in that direction.

it also completely defeats the point of what the vote should be. It should be your actual opinion. Not some extremely weighted "If I have to" choice.

You are saying you want that person to be in charge. If you actually dont want that person to be in charge dont vote for them. End of story. The justifications after the fact dont matter either. You voted for them, you actively supported them, deal with it.

And honestly that level of stupidity would nullify any good she brings to the table.

This annoys me to death. If everybody that said "she has no chance" would actually go out and vote for these candidates, they might actually have a chance.
