A member of my family is struggling to find a job on account of a felony conviction ten years ago. She has worked in home nursing for much of the last decade. Does anyone have a recommendation for Knox area businesses that hire ex-felons? She is looking for clerical, general labor, or food service opportunities. Thanks in advance for any help!

Landscaping companies will hire felons. Tell her to keep her head up and good luck to her.

If she was trusted enough for home nursing -- I would guess her references would be solid -- anyway good luck to her

Believe it or not, ex cons that genuinely want to turn their lives around make some of the best employees. I know. I have a supplier that has three working for them and they subsequently work for me.

best wishes for her.

did a Google search for "felon friendly jobs" and a ton of links showed up (Birmingham area). I'm guessing you already tried this but if not give it a try. Here's what came up for this area.

felon friendly jobs - Google Search

The good news is the economy is full of opportunity and there are more job openings than applicants.

One of my best friends here in Georgia had some felony charges, and served time over them. He got out, and went through counseling. He then went to school and got a job as a counselor. He not only still works that job, but he got into church, and now also pastors a small church. He really changed, and amazes me.

One of my guys got 5 yrs. for weed and burglary. He got out at 23 yrs old. He’s 31 now, makes mid 50’s to 60’s with OT and has saved nearly 90k in his 401k...and is married with two kids owning his own home. He’ll be the first to tell you he needed to be checked hard, deserved it, is really sorry he did it, and will never ever “sit down” again. He says he has “purpose in life” with his family and job now and never wants to lose it.

I don’t think they have anything in Knoxville but elsewhere in East Tennessee the Koch Bros hire ex felons at their company. But who would want to work for such evil capitalists

Walmart/other retail plus Uber driver. Build resume and try for something better in a few years. I’m assuming the felony was nonviolent
