I really like the article and the fact that it mentioned that not only would he bring Chief back but also Tee Martin and Dale Jones who is the Defensive Coordinator at Appilachan state.

We could do much worse than Cutcliffe. Look at the current situation. If he retained Pittman,Graham, and pulled Chief back we would be looking pretty good. Also there is a rumor in GA that Grantham and Garner are not seeing eye to eye. While I agree Cutcliffe wouldn't be that huge homerun. Cutcliffe would keep stability in the program. Not to mention he still bleeds orange.

He is the answer to who was a great coordinator who helped Coach Fulmer win a national title, but it the question is who would be a championship winner head football coach, Cut is not the answer!!!!

"Tennessee opponents are racing through gaping holes big enough for New Jersey governor Chris Christie to roll up 300 yards."

In a word, yes. And Dale and Tee? Great, but let's think about who leaves the NFL in 3-4 years and what coach he loves the most.

Bring back Cut, he recruits Peyton. It's that simple. :dance2:

I am 50/50 on it, but stability he would definitely bring.

Plus he will get or groom a great QB...
Cutcliffe was at Tennessee from 1982-98 when the Vols won five SEC championships and a national championship. Those teams went to 16 bowl games in 17 years and he tutored quarterbacks Andy Kelly, Heath Shuler and Tee Martin in addition to Manning.

The idea of bringing him back, grows on me more and more each day. I am over this out BS that we keep bringing in. We had a great coach in Kiffin (like it or not), but him jumping ship to USC was a waiting game. I think we need to get back to a person that truly knows the passion of Tennessee football and loves it for what it is, and not someone that is here to collect a big fat paycheck. Those type of coaches will jump ship for the next check. I think he would retire here and get UT back on the right track with stability. Plus, Cut is well respected in the coaching circle and he could and would put the right people around him for this job. As my signature shows, this is a dumpster fire at UT that is slowly getting out of control...

LOL like the idea even more after typing this.

Cut would be a big upgrade from what we have now, just not sure he'd be the best long term hire. Duke's a good team but their defense is worse than ours.
