I don't know if any of you remember a walk on at UT named Joe Carroll but he was a friend of mine in High School.

Joe Carroll age 40, of Andersonville passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Jellico Community Hospital. He was a member of the White Oak Baptist Church. Joe was owner and operator of Carroll Construction Company.

Joe is survived by Wife: Tobie Carroll; Children: Michael & Kelsy Carroll all of Andersonville; Parents: K.T. and Bobby Carroll; Sister and Brother-in-law: Elizabeth and Paul Breading all of Duff; Nieces and Nephews: Summer, McKinsey, Aaron, Lexus, and Audrey.

Funeral Services will be 7 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Cross-Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Freeman officiating. Interment will be 11 AM Sunday in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tobie Carroll 1020 Hillvale Road, Andersonville, TN 37705 to help with final expenses. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday before funeral services at Cross-Smith Funeral Home.

Absolutely awful. Joe was a high school baseball teammate of mine. Great guy with a really good wife. Tragic.

Well we probably went to HS together. I graduated with his sister. Joe was the same age as my sister.

Here is what I saw posted on FB from Friends

The arrangements for Joe Carroll have been made. Visitation for friends and family is on Saturday January 23rd from 5pm-7pm with the funeral following at 7 pm. He is at Cross-Smith funeral home in LaFollette, TN. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to assist the family in the burial expe......nse. Joe did not have insurance and any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Well he must have moved from the Whitley system after I graduated.

I remember cheering for him to get into games when I was away from home in college.

He did. He transferred to Campbell County over Christmas break during his junior year.

My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family....God rest is soul.....with all that is tough in life: money....work....Tennessee Football problems.....none of that is as important than living life everyday and enjoying it to the fullest. One of the VOL Brothern has fallen....he was 7 years older than me...really puts things in perspective...I'm sorry for his loss.

Sweet. you played baseball at CCCHS as well? When did you graduate. I think your older than me but I played on their team up until my Jr year. Got a new coach, started playing football and just said screw the BB team.

Is that the team that went undefeated, but couldn't play in the tournament because of some transfer issue?

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
They lost once, at Morristown West. Joe was the transfer whose eligibility controversy resulted in CCHS being barred from tournament play. That's why I consider the TSSAA imbeciles to be a pocket version of the stooges in Indianapolis.
