Joe Gibbs resigns

I was hoping he would give it one more year. He looked very tired at the end of the season. Perhaps Snyder will get on the horn to Petrino.

I hate to see him go, but I think it's the right move at this point. I'm not sure about either Saunders or Williams taking over though. One thing I do know, Snyder will spend what he has to.

Yeah, I agree about it being time to go. I was disappointed that he didn't take the Skins back to the glory of the '80s/early '90s, but I will always respect him as a coach.

I am not sure how I would feel about Williams or Saunders, either. Who would you really like to see take over?

I have no idea and I'm already worn to the bone trying to figure out who the Vols are going to bring in. All that I can say is I hope that it's someone who emphasizes line play.

 I agree on both points.

Mr. Gibbs has won me a bunch of money and cost me a little, gotta take the good with the bad. One thing I can say about the man, he was a hell of a HC. I don't think to many would disagree with that.

i really thought Joe brought a new fire and intensity after Taylor's death and especially the Buffalo debacle. Perhaps it was just too much for him. One thing that bothers me is I don't think Saunders or Williams will work for anyone else. Could be completely cleaning house. My only worry there is how it will effect Jason Campbell's progress

Good point about the Sean Taylor death. Lexy pointed out that Gibbs looked worn out at the end of the season. JG is such a spiritual man, this travesty must have drained him terribly...

Gibbs was worn out at midseason. He just sucked it up the rest of the year. He is a very spiritual man and I can only imagine how much more that added on him. At least he was able to solidify his greatness with his effort at the end of the season.

I don't think there is anyone who can say Gibbs isn't one he** of a coach.

Hate to see him go, but like you guys said before, it's probably a good thing, for him, and the Redskins. Although he wasn't "great" coach like he was his first time around, he still had basically more success than any other coach to come through since he left. He will still go out a Redskin Legend.

X, not really disagreeing with you, but Gibbs will go down as an NFL coaching legend, not just a Redskins legend.

ESPN said that there's a slim chance Pete Carroll could end up in Washington. They went on to say that IF Pete was interested in the NFL again, he would definitely take Washington over Atlanta.

Speculation I know, but I haven't heard any other names mentioned so far.

Pete's turned down a few crap NFL jobs so far... I'd say the Redskins is a sweet gig.

The problem is that complete control in the NFL is a total myth.

joe gibbs had it. Can Snyder give it to someone else though? He knew he couldn't order Gibbs around. That would be quite exciting.

Okay... Not total myth. But about as close as it gets. The only guys who get close to "total" control are the living legends, like Gibbs and Belichick.

Gibbs is a darn good man. Read his book once...always had the utmost respect for him.
