In case you haven't seen, Vol columnist John Adams has been putting out his list of preferred coaching candidates. His #1 name is Bobby Patrino, his #2 name is Jim Mora Jr, and his #4 name is Tommy Tubberville. Let's start with #1.
#1 Bobby Patrino- This man has snake bitten two football programs and his own family thus far. Most importantly, he has proven that he has a major tendency to be self centered, conniving, dishonest, and uncommitted. The fact that he broke his commitment to his wife and the Falcons, along with the fact that he lied to the AD, and the fact that he had to be caught as opposed to turning himself in says "parents and programs- beware". The parent factor alone to me says that he will have serious issues on the recruiting trail. If you can't recruit good players, you can't expect to be successful! He may have found God and changed his ways or what have you. But most parents wouldn't want their child to be the guinea pigs. There are not too many parents out there that want to see their baby boy mentored by someone with his recent track record. If he has changed, then great for him! But he has a lot of "proving himself" to do. Lastly, that move would be seen as down right "bone headed" by the folks at the NCAA since UT is still on probation.
That and the fact that it just isn't going to happen. Hart's communication to the media says it all...
"Hiring a head coach with integrity is paramount for Tennessee."
Bobby Petrino and Butch Davis are out of the picture completely.
#2 Jim Mora Jr- His departure after one year would be the equivalent of Kiffen leaving Tennessee. Can't see him leaving there to come here.
#4 Tommy Tubberville- Twould be like hiring Fulmer back. The guy can coach but his track record shows major inconsistencies. He had a 5-2 record against teams ranked in the top 5. On the other hand, he also lost to teams that had way less talent routinely. Losses to Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and a 31-0 shellacking by a weaker Alabama team are reminiscent of the reasons behind Fulmer's departure.
