I think we are going to surprise alot of people this year. Every interview i have seen with any of the players you can tell that they are more pumped this year then they have been in awhile.

My favorite was 1993 when Boston College scored a huge upset victory over Notre Dame. The polls come out the following Monday, and Notre Dame still got a single vote for #1...
Yep, John Adams.

Probably too high . . . but not that outrageous.

Agreed. Tell me, why are they weaker this year than last? QB probably an upgrade. Another stud will step into RB. The defense will be loaded. A Top recruiting class coming in, the other classes a year older, Jones a year better...

Hate to say it boys, but it don't sound half bad! Last year they overachieved. That type of performance was expected this year... there is no reason to believe they can't do it. Whether or not they do...

not sure why everyone is so high on bama after the utah debacle and losing their best o-lineman and qb

Three guys who voted for us:
<TABLE border=1 cellSpacing=0 borderColor=#cccccc cellPadding=0 align=center><TBODY><TR><TD class=text4 width=200>Voter </TD><TD class=text4 width=100>Rank </TD></TR><TR><TD class=text4>Kevin Gorman </TD><TD class=text4>16 </TD></TR><TR><TD class=text4>Barker Davis </TD><TD class=text4>23 </TD></TR><TR><TD class=text4>Austin Ward </TD><TD class=text4>24 </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Gorman put us 16, and left Georgia off the top 25. Really? Further proof that pollls are a joke.

Getting less votes than us was UCLA, Auburn got less than that, and Coach Pencil-neck's gamechicks got even less. :good!:

Probably the fact that they have one of the top 2 defenses and the top front 7 in America. Defense and a smash mouth running game still wins football games.

Bama is probably a top 5 team, definitely a top 10 team. I think #2 is a little high, but it isn't unreasonable.

Their regular season was very strong in the eyes of the media, going undefeated in the SEC is no fluke, whether you lost to Utah or not. Not to mention they beat the dead horse excuse "Bama is a year ahead of schedule and really shouldn't be here right now". This made it ok to lose, I suppose.

Also, most media pollsters try to put things into perspective by saying "yeah, but that was last year. If Utah/Bama played 10 times, Bama wins 8." Or something to that effect.

Fact is, they played Florida close until the 4th quarter. They return a top 3 defense in the country with another big recruiting class. As far as pre-season rankings go, I don't see how you could not put them in the top 5. #2, probably not. IMO.
